CPN together with government and private sector organized the New Year Countdown ‘Candle lights of Siam @CentralWorld’, gathering together to send greeting cards to ‘Father in the sky’

Central Pattana (CPN) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Authority of Thailand held the New Year’s Eve and New Year 2017 celebration event called ‘Candle lights of Siam @CentralWorld’, gathered together and sent greeting cards to ‘Father in the sky’. Gen. Thanasak Patimaprakorn, Deputy Prime Minister, Preecha Ekkunagul, President and Chief Executive Officer of CPN, Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Executive Vice President of Marketing of CPN and partners from various organizations including: the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Royal Thai Police and Metropolitan Police Bureau, Spicy Disc Co, Tossapak Co, Thai Beverage Plc, Advanced Wireless Network Co., Plan B Media Public Plc, Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association, Index Creative Village Plc and Channel 3 Thailand invited people to share solidarity with each other. The shows at the event included a Thai dancing and drum performance called ‘Phae Ree Si Siam Amnuey Pohn’ (Blessings Siam) performed by a group of Ratchapruk artists, arranged by the Ministry of Culture. The artists who participated in the New Year countdown event were Pinta Nattanich Rattanasaereekiet, a disabled choir from the blind public singers and musician development project, Room 39, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and Kit Kittinan (The Voice) and Kob Saowanit, artists from Spicy Disc; Kor Nattaphon POP, Mild, The Parkinson, Laongfong, Helmethead, and a popular boyband from Korea: Three One Six (316).

This was the only event gathered everyone together including government, private sector and the general public to participate in a special heart-touching activity, and sent an emphatic message to the world. The cross-over into 2017 included a prayer service, singing a song composed by the late King (New Year Greeting Song), which is a tune that the Thai people will never forget, and the highlight of ‘Sending the greeting cards to Father in the sky’ show and lighting of the candles to venerate the nation, the King and the royal family, and to bless our lives and enter 2017 together in harmony. Thai people and foreign tourists were a part of a small but impressive candle-lighting event that shone brightly on 31st December simultaneously in the middle of Ratchaprasong intersection, CentralWorld, CentralPlazas, and CentralFestivals nationwide – seven branches in total:  CentralPlaza Ubonratchathani, CentralPlaza Udonthani, CentralPlaza WestGate, CentralPlaza Salaya, CentralFestival Hatyai, CentralFestival Chiangmai and CentralWorld – major destinations for Thai people and foreign tourists.

Everyone gathered together and sent greeting cards to ‘Father in the sky’ and light candles in the middle of Bangkok at CentralWorld Square, our national countdown landmark.
