October 15th Marks The Annual Re-Opening Of The Similan Islands National Park Diving Season

Every year the Similan Islands National Park in Thailand has opened its gates to their beautiful, scenic shorelines to the public to allow divers from around the world experience diving with unique sea creatures and viewing majestic sunsets. Since 2010, Khao Lak Explorer Dive Center has helped divers of all skill levels achieve unimaginable dreams and capture impressive pictures with their liveaboard diving packages and Similan tours during the national park’s diving season.

There are nine islands that make up the Similan Islands – KoHuyong, KoPayang, KoPayan, KoMiang, Ko Ha, KoPayu, KoHinPousar, Ko Similan, and KoBangu. Diving tourists around the world flock to the Similan Islands National Park every year for a chance to see a wide variety of marine life, including manta rays, leopard and white sharks, triggerfish, batfish,unicorn fish, dolphins, and unique coral reef formations. Additionally, when not diving, tourists can enjoy various and unique land inhabitants, such as the mangrove monitor lizard, while walking along the park’s many nature trails.

The Similan Islands National Park is only open to divers between October 15th and May 15th. The long off-season allows the area’s marine and wildlife to regenerate as well as allows local area residents to prepare for the monsoon season.

Khao Lak Explorer Dive Center, located at the heart of Khao Lak, Thailand is the closest departure site to the national park. The center’s instructors and dive masters are all PADI qualified and eager to share their knowledge and experience with fellow aqua enthusiasts. Courses are conducted in small groups, with a maximum limit of five people per instructor. Additionally, courses are multi-lingual friendly, with many instructors fluent in several languages.
