The Gallery 36 at Pullman Bangkok Hotel G proudly presents Here is Life, the first solo exhibition by Chanida Areewatanasombat. The exhibition will run from 17th March – 19th May 2019.
Chanida, also known as Nida and @Chubbynida through her Instagram account, was born and raised in Bangkok. The talented artist graduated in Visual Communications Design at Silpakorn University before going on to complete her Master’s in Illustration Design at Kingston University, UK. After completing her studies, she returned to Thailand where she works as a freelance illustrator and animator. Her personal art is emotional, colourful and high contrast work which she creates in her characteristic comic style by combining illustration and painting techniques. She also makes short animated films and installations infused with the bustle and rhythm of her life.
Here is Life brings together more than twenty of Nida’s works at The Gallery 36. The series of paintings in the exhibition are heavily influenced by her surroundings and her response to emotional experiences of daily life. By transforming her feelings into paintings, the artist’s work attempts to convey the confusion and emotions that she has felt in her life. The exhibition tells the story of both good and bad days. It gives viewers a sense of kum lung jai – the courage, power and spirit to be able to fight through not-so-perfect days and question these feelings.
The preview night for Here is Life, Solo Exhibition by Chubby Nida will be held on Sunday 17th March 2019 from 4PM – 7PM at The Gallery on the 36th floor of Pullman Bangkok Hotel G. The exhibition will continue until 19th May 2019.
