Other topics to be covered include façade problem-solving case studies; developing innovations between the demands of architects, fabricators and building owners; how to design absence; sustainability and innovation through façade innovations; and unconventional trends of the industry in Thailand vis-à-vis global up gradations.
Energy saving in buildings is also a hot topic in the industry at the moment. In addition to beauty, there is a need for building design to help reduce energy consumption and indoor air pollution. As the transformation of sustainable green principles takes place in the region, the construction industry will bear a new outlook for the building envelopes and cladding.
The building façade, which is a part of the building envelope, is among the most important components of a building. It plays an important part in complementing the structural form and defining its visual impact on the urban environment.
Reduced energy consumption and indoor air pollution are two major targets the construction industry is vowing to achieve with each project these days. In addition to just being the complementing and aesthetic factor of the building, façades are now being given due importance as a core aspect assisting the entire building structure to become more environmentally responsive and energy efficient.
Innovations and upgraders in façade materials and construction technologies have improved a lot over the last few years; however, the challenges pertaining to protection against fire still loom large. Fire stopping systems and their adequate testing and applications are key to an improvised performance of the building façade. Apart from being aesthetically pleasing, waterproof and insulated façades, dynamic façade is the current buzzword globally. Shading or controlled lighting, ventilation and controlled internal environment has led to the development of the buildings’ exteriors, which has been developed with assistance of modern technological advancements.
The conference will have representation from leading architects, facade consultants, developers, main contractors, facade contractors, cost consultants, structural consultants and other key players in the façade industry. Speakers at the event include Winyou Wanichsiriroj – Executive Vice President, Design 103 International; Dr.Jatuwat Varodompun – President, Smart Green Buildng Network; Andrew Snalune – Director, Façade Associates; Jean-Francois Winninger – Studio Director, Ateliers Jean Nouvel; Bernard Chang – Principal, Kohn Pederson Fox; Roger Cua – Executive Manager (Façade), Meinhardt Thailand; Scott Whittaker – Group Creative Director, DWP; Isara Narkaeo – Assistant Vice President (Design Management) Magnolia Quality; Dr Sirinath Jamieson – VP (Operation & Well-being) MQDC; Naree Phinyawatana – Director, Atelier Ten; Ho Joon Lee – CEO, G-Smatt Global; Jean-Paul Moonen – Global Segment Manager (Architectural) Akzonobel; Hendrik Pahlsmeyer – Head of Business Unit (Window, Sliding & Fitting Systems), Schüco International; David Yim – Marketing Manager, AGC Asia-Pacific; Frank Goudman – Sales Manager (Export), Renson; Stephen Tanno – Director (Pre-Construction), Schüco International; Jayrold Bautista – Senior Application Engineer, Dow Corning; Efthimios Zizos – Projects Manager, Elval Colour; Nitin Govila – Director (APAC & MEA), Serge Ferrari; Saran Cheawsamoot – Territory Manager (SEA), Serge Ferrari; and Jennifer Schneider – Structural and Security Glazing Market Manager, Kuraray.
