It’s no trompe l’oeil, no trick of the eye: The Salil hotel at Sukhumvit 57 – Thonglor represents a new way to see, feel and truly know Bangkok’s cosmopolitan pleasures.
Imagine a new hotel concept, one founded not merely on providing a place to stay but on the creation of The Concept Living Space in a modern classic with Japonaiserie-inspired design. A hotel that’s more like a private home on the corner of a European street, where guests are welcomed with a refreshing drink and flavorful tidbit as if they were indeed friends in town for a visit or neighbors stopping by. Guests who smile warmly yet again when, in their room, they find a greeting note written by their host.
The imagined has been made real. In Bangkok, guests of The Salil, whether in for a weekend getaway or on a long-term stay, settle into a living space that redefines the hotel experience.
Stay | Eat | Work | Shop | Play | Relax
Opened in April 2017, The Salil in Sukhumvit 57 brings more than five-star elegance to Thonglor. But first, the basic facts. The 130-room, 8-floor hotel comprises 24 Premier rooms, 94 Deluxe rooms and 12 one-bedroom suites at 28, 35 and 45 square meters respectively. Among essential hotel facilities are all-day dining café, tea lounge, souvenir corner, rooftop swimming pool and garden, fitness room, and meeting/working spaces. Among nearby sites easily reachable by car as well as by adjacent Thonglor BTS SkyTrain Station are: EM District including EmQuartier and The Emporium shopping malls; the stylish restaurants, bars and clubs of Thonglor and Ekkamai; and BITEC Bangna convention and exhibition center. The hotel likewise provides underground car parking.
Yet it is the design concept of each component at The Salil that turns essential basics into extraordinary features. Based on six fundamental activities – Stay, Eat, Work, Shop, Play, Relax – the design approach transforms what at conventional hotels may be quotidien into memorable days and nights.

The true meaning of Concept Living Space.
The Salil takes in all the ways guests can enjoy food and drink, including at all-day dining at Bar Storia del Caffè, the Classical-European inspired that kicks up the fun aspect for the hotel, as well as afternoon tea and more at the hotel’s Mariage Frères Tea Room, which brings to Bangkok a dedicated venue and shop for the venerable French tea purveyor to sip tea, hang out and do whatever they please. Both located in the lobby area, allowing guests to enjoy the experience the Concept Living Space upon arrival to the hotel.
Do it in style. Do it anywhere at The Salil. All today’s necessities in place: digital tech for production, coffees, teas and nibbles for inspiration. Amid the many pleasures, though, sometimes work must be done, and The Salil sees no reason why it can’t be done in style. The Concept Living Space comprises a well-equipped workplace with all of today’s digital necessities – along with other undeniable work necessities: premium coffees, teas and snacks for inspiration, each available at the hotel’s café and local taste bar.
When a lobby is not just a lobby, but a variety of experiences. A corner is dedicated to offer items for sale that guests find inspiring or memorable while visiting The Salil such as fine teas from Mariage Freres, The Salil souvenirs, Potpourri from Everyday Karmakamet, and gifts from co-incidence.
But even the hardest working guests must play too. And play they will at facilities integral to “The Playroom” design concept. Indeed here the word “play” applies in many senses. There’s spirited and active play in the hotel’s ping-pong room; there’s the play of light and shadow in the hotel’s art gallery; at its very own theater, actors play their parts in films; and at the hotel’s paint bar guests delight in art instruction that’s serious play.
Make yourself at home in daytime at rooftop pool with secret gardens and enchanting glass house. Unwind in night time at urbane sky bar. Come up and experience the entire floor as your own living room where you can relax all day all night.
A personal living space
With its latest project, Salil Group endeavors not merely to build a hotel, nor to add a conventional boutique hotel to its portfolio, but rather to introduce the “concept living space” as part of a new kind of hotel experience.
All the same, while spaces, settings and atmospheres are certainly crucial to the concept, likewise vital are the sorts of personal touches that come from the heart. Staff at The Salil confer genuine Thai hospitality that’s not just highly attentive and thoughtful but savvy as well. And everyone is eager to share their local insights. The Salil may be a hidden gem in the center of the city, but guests can be assured they’ll be given personalized advice and recommendations allowing them to explore all the city’s beguiling facets.
More personal signatures marking The Salil way of hospitality abound at every turn. Guests will see it in their room’s personalized bar cart, will know it when having breakfast in bed while luxuriating in their Salil pajamas.
The Salil by Salil Group means far more than a stay. The hotel represents a wholly new concept of personal living space.
The Salil story
In many ways The Salil story derives from the notion of story itself. The hotel has been conceived and designed as indeed a setting where the moments of a day, even those comprising the simplest of pleasures, can become so much more. Whether it’s enjoying an espresso and watching the world go by, sunbathing on the balcony while reading a favorite novel, browsing art works in a discreet gallery – whatever the pleasure, the moment is made special at The Salil by everything being wonderfully right for the moment.
For these moments and more are the delights of a modern city, whether a European capital or an Asian metropolis, whether downtown Paris or central Bangkok. It’s a time and place where people of diverse backgrounds and interests are drawn for inspiration and delectation. It’s where new stories unfold every moment of every day and night.
