With one week to go before the hotly anticipated Sportscar Together Day (SCTD) kicks off, Porsche has revealed the public event’s full line-up. The massive gathering will take over the Show DC Oasis Arena in central Bangkok on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1pm till midnight, as hundreds of Porsche owners and thousands of the brand’s fans converge at Porsche’s 70th birthday bash.

Porsche Asia Pacific, the regional office of the sports car manufacturer, and AAS Auto Service (AAS), the sole authorised importer and distributor of Porsche cars in Thailand, warmly invites members of the public to join us at this event, which is also held in conjunction with the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia one-make sports car racing series at Bangsaen during the same weekend.

The stars and fun-filled activities

Welcoming the guests is actress, presenter and Instagram-celebrity Diana Chungjintanakarn, who graces the event as the emcee. Joining her is a star-studded line up. Top Thai male singer-songwriter Singto Numchok, who takes centre stage as the headline act to belt out his chart-hogging hits.  Children will be invited on stage to join him, culminating in the key moment for the day – a birthday song to Porsche. The tempo ramps up as one of Thailand’s most sought-after disc jockeys, DJ Yukio, takes over for the closing set.

Other VIPs and personalities present include Managing Director of Porsche Asia Pacific, Arthur Willmann; Director of the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart Achim Stejskal, and New Zealander professional Porsche works driver Earl Bamber, a double winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Sports Car World Endurance Championship.

Foodies can look forward to the Market Stalls that bring the best of Bangkok’s colourful food culture, serving up a smorgasbord of street food from iconic local F&B establishments such as After You, Happy Cheese Toast and Oranginal. Closer to Porsche’s German roots, the Biergarten offers ice-cold beer on tap, the perfect brew for washing down the bratwurst. Here and at the Porsche Curves Café, guests can follow live action from the race track at Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Bangsaen, Porsche’s one-make race taking place on the same weekend.

Throughout the day, great prizes such as Porsche hampers, driving experiences at Porsche Experience Centre Sepang, Malaysia and a pair of Lufthansa business class tickets to Germany are also up for grabs through lucky draws and photo contests.

In the spirit of Sportscar Together and in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation Thailand, children will be part of the event to join in the festivities.  Make-A-Wish Foundation Thailand creates life-changing wishes for children with illnesses, and at the event they will experience a new adventure, filling them with joy as they learn about road traffic rules and having fun at the Porsche Kids Driving School.

At the heart of it all – the brand and the cars

Cars naturally form the heart of this event, with several Porsche Clubs and Das Treffen coming together to create Southeast Asia’s largest “car park meet”. Over 200 Porsche vehicles, including 50 Porsche Club cars arriving in an escorted convoy that have come from all over the region, will reunite with the community in one single car park.

On the same piece of tarmac, the 7 Generations of the 911 exhibit follows the iconic 911 through its model years, from the early-70’s classic E-series to the 2014 991-series 50th Anniversary Edition, highlighting the gentle evolution of the car’s signature shape since the very first example rolled off the line in 1963. The Super Car Circle features eight of the fastest Porsche sports cars of all time, including the 911 (996) GT2, Porsche Carrera GT and 911 (997) GT3 RS 4.0.

Within the event venue proper, Ferry Porsche’s Garage takes visitors on a nostalgic journey back to the birthplace of the car that marked the beginning of the hallowed brand. Three examples of the Porsche 356 will be displayed in individual containers. The Porsche 911 Garage is a further celebration of Porsche’s most recognised model, bearing a trademark shape that still underscores the Porsche identity till today.

Two special models sit proudly on the main stage: the Porsche 919 Hybrid racing car constructed for use in the Le Mans Prototype 1-Hybrid (LMP1-H) category of the FIA World Endurance Championship; and the Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar, a technology demonstrator that earned its stripes in one of the world’s toughest rallies, completing the 13,800 km desert course with a one-two victory in 1986. The legendary Porsche 918 Spyder also makes an appearance, a powerful mid-engine plug-in hybrid sports car that made history as the first series production street-legal car to smash the seven-minute barrier on the Nürburgring.
