Alumni, current students, executives and staffs of The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT recently gathered at the GIT ALUMNI 2018 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the institute at the Grand Ballroom, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok.
The event provided a shining opportunity to forge new relationships, strengthen networks and share experiences with peers and mentors, all of which is set to benefit the country’s gem and jewelry industry in the long run.
“GIT is an organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce with the key mission to enhance the competitiveness of Thai jewelers both in the national level and international level,” GIT Chairman Mr.Rachane Potjanasuntorn said at the event.
“To achieve this goal, GIT provides gem and jewelry testing and certification services, which are recognized internationally as well as offering various training courses covering all aspects in gem and jewelry industry to improve the capabilities of the workforces. GIT is currently the most comprehensive gem and jewelry learning center in Thailand.”
Since its establishment 20 years ago, GIT has trained more than 3,000 people in gem and jewelry industry through a variety of courses including gemology, advanced gem and jewelry marketing management, gold and precious metal business management, and jewelry design, among other courses.
“GIT alumni have utilized knowledge they learnt from GIT in their businesses and many of them successfully set up their own brands, which is widely recognized in the market such as PonK SmiTHi, JITTRAKARN, MALIKA and ARQUETYPE,” GIT chairman added.
