On 17 October 2019, Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort will be hosting a blood donation for the first time and invites all members of the local community as well as local hoteliers to participate.
As blood plays a vital role in saving human lives, blood donations remain one of the most important means of transferring blood from one person to another. An average human body contains between 17 and 18 glasses of blood, in which only an average of 15 is actually used to power our bodily systems. Therefore, most individuals are fully capable of donating blood to someone else.
Before an individual is allowed to give blood, they are evaluated according to various criteria including age and weight. They are also carefully screened for several conditions like heart disease and high blood pressure. Once an individual has been approved, the process can take place, where a nurse will slowly yet painlessly draw blood into a medical bag. This blood is then sorted into a ‘type’ and transported to a medical facility.
The blood donation event will take place between 09.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at the resort’s Grand Ballroom and the services will be provided by the Thai Red Cross Society, as well as professionals from Krabi Hospital and Phuket Reginal Blood Centre. The target of the event is to secure at least 80 donors. The resort’s team will be incredibly grateful to all who choose to join this blood drive.
