Conceptualized in part to promote better understanding and acceptance of family planning and to generate income to support various development activities of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA), Cabbages & Condoms has since attracted international attention.
And remember, as the restaurant chooses to remind us, while their food is guaranteed not to cause pregnancy, we do envision a lively lunch of renewed friendships and networking in support of a responsible tourism industry!
We are honoured to have the highly respected social entrepreneur, Mr. Mechai Viravaidya, chairman of the PDA with us again – this time as our host.
Founded in 1974 and now one of Thailand’s most well established and diverse NGO’s, PDA was first active in promoting family planning. PDA’s programs are based on the belief that local people are best suited to shape and sustain their own development.
For Skålleagues, particularly hoteliers and restaurateurs, who joined Skal International Bangkok’s June lunch at Le Boeuf, you will be interested to hear Khun Mechai’s update on availability of high quality student trainees from the PDA’s “Bamboo School” seeking placement in your business.
