AirAsia’s Macao-Phuket flight was inaugurated today, on 8 January 2018. With the support of Macao International Airport, a grand welcoming event was organized to mark the occasion. The arrival of the inaugural flight was followed by a press conference in Macao airport that was attended by esteemed guests including Mr. Asi Mamanee, Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Hong Kong and Macao; Ms Sirima Chindamat, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Hong Kong Office; Mr. Simon Chan, President of Civil Aviation Authority of Macao, Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Government Tourist Office; Ms. Grace Cheang, Director of Finance and Administration of Macao International Airport Co. Ltd.; Mr. Lino Ho, General Assembly President of Macao Thailand Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Patrick Ong, Chief Executive Officer of the Administration of Airports Ltd.; Mr. Raymond Lo, Managing Director of Menzies Macao Airport Services; Mr. Lao Kin Sang, Deputy General Manager of Nam Kwong Petroleum & Chemicals Co., Ltd.; Ms. Gigi Wong, Deputy General Manager of SEMAC Security Company and Ms. Celia Lao – CEO of AirAsia Hong Kong and Macao.

The keen interest has been attributed to Macao being a popular destination for Thai tourists and Phuket being a well-known island paradise for Chinese and international travelers. This direct connection will create immense convenience for travelers from both ends.

Apart from Phuket-Macao, Thai AirAsia offers a variety of direct flights to Macao from Thailand, including Don Mueang-Macao (4 flights a day), Chiang Mai-Macao (1 flight per day) and Pattaya (U-Tapao)-Macao (4 flights per week).
With this newly added service, AirAsia group operates a total of 72 weekly flights connecting Macao to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya (U-Tapao), Kuala Lumpur, Manila and most recently launched Johor Bahru in Malaysia, which began service on 28 November 2017.
