On October 5, 2017, China Airlines celebrates the 50th anniversary of its direct Bangkok–Taipei route. The popular airline also takes this occasion to highlight its innovative features such as the e–Check–in, the upcoming opening of a new lounge and recent additions to their fleet, including the brand new A350 airplane.
China Airlines’ Thai success story started in 1967 when the late King Bhumibol and his Queen Sirikit traveled to Taipei with them. Shortly after this, the company established a direct commercial route between Taipei and Bangkok which has been catering to growing numbers of passengers every year and was often honored by Princess Sirindhorn’s patronage.
Today China Airlines has 28 weekly flights between Bangkok and Taipei and creates the main connection between Thailand and Taiwan. Many Taiwanese travelers use this route to enter the Kingdom before continuing their journey to popular tourist destinations including Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Chang and Udon Thani. For the year of 2017, the airline has set the ambitious goal of 670,000 customers flying from Taipei to Bangkok, and 330,000 from Bangkok to Taipei.
To achieve these numbers, China Airlines is investing heavily in the service they provide to their guests. As part of their initiatives to offer an advanced, comfortable and unmistakable experience, easy e-Check-in was launched at the beginning of the year. Furthermore, in October 2017 a new China Airlines Lounge will open at the Suvarnabhumi airport to make a place of rest and relaxation available for people with long layovers. 2018 will mark the biggest change yet, as the new A350 model will start operating on several flights.
“At China Airlines we are proud and thankful to be celebrating 50 years of service between Bangkok and Taipei. Many things have changed during this time and we have always been doing our best to innovate and continuously offer our passengers the most comfortable and relaxing experience while flying. We are positive that our success will continue into the future if we keep putting our customers first and live by our motto, ‘your journey, our people’,” says Mr. Ho Nuan Heuan, Chairman of China Airlines.
