Cathay Pacific steps forward on the road to carbon neutrality. The airline’s newly-launched 1 Ticket, 1 Tree campaign is one of Cathay Pacific’s sustainability practices which benefits one of the airline’s core destinations, Thailand. Timed to mark the ‘International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem’ on July 26, Cathay Pacific commits to planting one mangrove tree for each flight ticket sold from July 26 until August 25, 2021. The mangrove trees will be planted in the mangrove forest areas surrounding Bangkok, which play an essential role in carbon removal and sequester.
Cathay Pacific Country Manager for Thailand and Myanmar Peonie Lo said: “We are proud to launch this initiative where we preserve the mangrove forests in Bangkok together with our valued passengers. Cathay Pacific is leading
the charge towards sustainable aviation and this initiative aligns with our strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
