Can Tho is Vietnam’s fourth largest city and the largest on its Mekong River Delta. Well known for its maritime trade, the city is home to a major floating market and its rich soil has also allowed it to become the country’s main source of agriculture. Visitors to the city can get up close with traditional waterside Vietnamese life as well as be presented with exciting investment opportunities as it is a bustling center for business and trade.
Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said the airline is ecstatic to be flying Bangkok-Can Tho, an important addition to its network in Vietnam. The route will link Thailand and Vietnam’s economic centres and add a convenient way for Vietnamese travellers to connect to the rest of Asean region.
“Can Tho should prove an interesting destination for Thai travellers looking for new experiences with its riverside lifestyle and floating market right at the mouth of the Mekong River. A direct connection from Thailand to Can Tho will make travel much more convenient for both Thai and foreign tourists,” Mr. Santisuk said.
AirAsia currently operates 5 routes to Vietnam; Bangkok-Hanoi (2 flights a day), Bangkok-Ho Chi Minh (3 flights a day), Bangkok-Da Nang (3 flights a day), Chiang Mai-Hanoi (1 flight a day) and now Bangkok-Can Tho (3 flights a week).
