Backyard Travel’s new Myanmar Tour Takes Families to the ‘Golden Land’

Backyard Travel, the online boutique tour operator specializing in insider tours throughout Asia today announced a perfect new Myanmar tour for families with a sense of adventure.

The 10-day Exploring the Golden Land: A Myanmar Family Tour takes families on an action-packed trip around the country’s famed sites, taking in UNESCO-listed ancient cities, towering Buddhist temples, lush jungle trails and serene overwater villages. With cycling, trekking, kayaking and long-tail-boat riding, it’s the ideal itinerary for intrepid families who like to explore.

The tour begins in Yangon before heading to the temples of Bagan, then heads to an elephant camp in Kalaw, in the verdant Shan State. Next, it’s on to Inle Lake to visit its overwater villages and explore the townships at its edge before returning to Yangon via Heho.

Highlights include cycling through tranquil farmland outside of Yangon and between the dusty temples of Bagan; trekking through untouched jungle to walk alongside rescued elephants and watch them bathe in the river; kayaking between the stilted houses that hover over Inle Lake; and a home stay experience in Saung Khar, sleeping overnight in a local family home.

Myanmar is a fascinating destination for children and adults alike, especially those curious to learn about different cultures,” says General Manager of Backyard Travel Trystan Trestchenkoff. “We created this itinerary with every member of the family in mind – the nature-lovers, the history buffs and those who love to experience different ways of life. All the different forms of exploration and transportation further set this trip apart.”
