“The 12th Bangkok Grand Wine Tasting & Chile Wine Trade Show Bangkok will be held on 15th November 2019 in the Royal Maneeya Ballroom, Renaissance Bangkok said Mr. Joe Sriwarin, MD of AEC Protrader Co., Ltd.
“Bangkok Grand Wine Tasting and Thailand’s Best Sommelier Competition was established by Wine Today Magazine in 2008.
For the past eleven years, famous wine regions, wine brands, overseas boutique wine producers and importers have partnered and exhibited their wines, holding wine master classes and offer for tasting to 1,000 wine trade professionals, sommeliers, F&B professionals and high-end wine lovers.
Since 2008, we’ve seen the volume of wine imported to Thailand increase substantially compared to the past decades. Today we have more wine importers, fine-dining, Michelin Star rated restaurants, more wine bars, wine pubs, wine shops and duty free shops all over Thailand.” Added Mr. Sriwarin.
“Geographically, Thailand is the center of the Southeast Asia mainland, and with tourism being the number one industry, wine is an important part of the luxury lifestyle among 40 million visitors. Bangkok ranks number #1 most visited city for the past four years, ahead of Paris and London. Wine consumption has become a lifestyle for middle class Thais, with more famous cuisines from around the world and eateries than all the neighboring countries combined, these factors definitely help in growing the wine trade.
Bangkok also has established itself as the Southeast Asia’s mainland’s wine hub because the cost of wine temperature-control storage is much cheaper than anywhere in the region and wine taxes are also lower than the past, especially from the countries that have free-trade agreements (Australia and Chile rank highest in volumes) with Thailand.
From Bangkok, wine business professionals can reach Malaysia’s capital in the South, Myanmar in the North, Laos in the Northeast, Cambodia and Vietnam in the East, all within one hour air-time, and with borders connected to four countries, this helps make wines transporting become easier and faster than from other countries.
We are very pleased to announce our partnership with Mr. Eduardo Brethauer, a famous Chilean journalist, wine writer and author of ‘Vinos con Cuento’ who has a goal of sharing Chilean wines to the world, and to bring Chile Wine Trade Show in Bangkok.
Mr. Brethauer will also host the ‘Chile Wine Master Class” to wine trade professionals and leading sommeliers as well as present many super premium and well-known wines from his country during the grand tasting.
The 12th Bangkok Grand Wine Tasting, is still the biggest and most elaborate wine event in Thailand, and we are collaborating with leading local importers, wine owners, winemakers and representatives to showcase wines from around the world, as well as offer for tasting and sell at special low prices.
The Renaissance Bangkok Hotel is the official hotel partner, where overseas guests and out-of-town visitors will be staying during the two days events and is conveniently located in the heart of the capital”, said Mr. Sriwarin
