SALA Hospitality Group, the Thai beach resort and boutique hotel specialist, will showcase the exquisite flavours of authentic Italian cuisine and fine wine this month, with an exclusive dining event at sala rattanakosin eatery and bar in Bangkok.In partnership with Central Wine Cellars, this riverside boutique retreat in Bangkok’s most historic district will host a unique gastronomic gathering on Thursday 15th October 2020 that embraces exceptional Italian produce, including fresh and imported ingredients and delectable DOCG wines – the highest label of quality given to Italian vintages.
Fernando Roman, sala boutique’s regional executive chef, and leading wine expert Rasmus Poll, will treat guests to an exceptional epicurean evening including sunset canapés and a carefully crafted five-course dinner paired with premium Italian wines at the hotel’s Eatery and Bar, all overlooking the Chao Phraya River and Wat Arun, the “Temple of Dawn”.
This gastronomic gathering starts on the rooftop at 6pm, as the sun sets over the city’s historical skyline, reflecting off the rippling river and making Wat Arun shimmer and shine. Bite-sized treats will be served, such as sundried tomato, olive mascarpone & basil pesto bruschetta, and Parma ham & melon with wild rocket foam, accompanied by a glass of Oroperla Prosecco Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG 2018, an elegant Italian sparkling wine.
Guests can then savour the fresh flavours of the Mediterranean with “Zuppa di Pesca” – a classic Italian seafood soup featuring sustainable mussels, prawns, clams and squid, accompanied by a cool and crisp Feudi di San Gregorio Greco di Tufo DOCG, 2018, a fruity white with hints of citrus and apple.
Diners can then look forward to the main event: “Textures of Lamb”. This mouth-watering Italian main course features black pepper encrusted lamb loin, cooked to perfection and served with artichoke salad, lamb fettuccini with fresh black truffle & cranberry jus, for a truly indulgent taste sensation. This will be paired with Feudi di San Gregorio Taurasi DOCG, 2014, a rich and complex red wine with black fruit flavours.
The evening ends with a divine dessert of “Affogato” – a traditional Italian vanilla bean gelato with double espresso coffee, topped with fresh berries, crisp meringue & toasted almond flakes.
