Qatar Airways Announces Jared Lee as Vice President of Sales for Southeast Asia, Southwest Pacific & Indian Subcontinent

Qatar Airways today announces Jared Lee will become Vice President of Sales for Southeast Asia, Southwest Pacific & Indian Subcontinent. He will take over Qatar Airways’ Australia and New Zealand portfolio from Thomas Scruby who will be moving to Doha for the role of Vice President for Distribution.An aviation veteran, Jared has close to three decades of airline experience. He joined Qatar Airways in 2006, and was instrumental in the commercial success of Qatar Airways’ operation in the Asia Pacific (China, Japan, Korea, Australasia, South East Asia, South Asian Subcontinent), and African markets.

Jared pioneered Qatar Airways’ Australian operation in 2009, and has developed key relationships with travel trade and corporate partners. With ample experience in the Australian market and the ability in formulating robust sales and distribution strategies to generate revenue and brand awareness, Jared is a natural choice to lead the division.

Prior to joining Qatar Airways, Jared had worked for Singapore Airlines where he had assumed several senior management roles within the airline, across airport, commercial and cargo operations in a span of 13 years.

Outgoing Vice President, Thomas Scruby, will assume a new role within the airline heading the Distribution team in Doha. Since joining Qatar Airways in 2020, Scruby has played an important role managing the Australasia and North Asia regions during the critical global pandemic period.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Eastern Regions, Marwan Koleilat, said: “Thomas Scruby has lead the Australasia and North Asia regions through this trying global pandemic period. I am confident that Mr. Scruby will apply the same enthusiasm and knowledge in his new role in Doha and I wish him every success.”

Jared Lee is the Vice President Sales of Qatar Airways South East Asia and South Asia Subcontinent. With over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, he is responsible for Qatar Airways’ overall commercial leadership, strategy and business operations in eight countries within South East Asia (SEA) and seven countries within Southwest Pacific and Indian Subcontinent (SWP & ISC).

Jared began his career in the airline industry in 1992. His aviation career began with

Singapore Airlines. Over a period of 13 years, he rapidly moved up the ranks and assumed several senior management roles within the airline, across both commercial and cargo operations.

Jared joined Qatar Airways in 2006 and was instrumental in the commercial success of

Qatar Airways’ operation in the Pacific (Japan, Korea, Philippines and Australasia), Greater China and Africa market. He joined the cruise sector as Vice President, Product Management & Guest Services with the Costa Crociere S.p.A. in 2016.

Jared holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics & Statistics with Honors, from the National

University of Singapore. He is currently pursuing an Executive Masters in Leadership,

Strategy & Innovation.
