Amara Bangkok, Surawong Road, Bangkok: hotel review

Spread the love

Experience “Old Bangkok” with a modern twist at Surawong’s most beautiful hotel, and if you ever get bored of the neighborhood, Amara Bangkok’s ever-ideal location ensures a quick and easy escape.

Every hotel likes to advertise itself as being close to all of the most happening places in town, but Amara Bangkok is one of the few that actually delivers. It is within walking distance of not one, but two BTS Sky Train stations, tourist attractions, night markets and the financial district. If you want to go a bit further, just hop on the expressway. Amara Bangkok is literally right next door to everything, a major advantage in this city of traffic jams (sorry Bangkok!). All the rooms are contemporary, elegant and equipped with luxurious bath amenities and rain showers. The hotel has a Sky Gym because everyone deserves to exercise with a view, a Sky Pool, aesthetic function and meeting rooms with natural lighting and innovative dining concepts that are truly scrumptious and won’t break the bank.

I checked in on a busy Friday evening and was put in one of the rooms on the 17th floor, with access to the Club Lounge. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated in soothing color schemes and the minibar comprised of healthy snacks and fresh, seasonal fruit. The bed was huge and comfy. I am generally very particular about my bathrooms and I have to say that Amara Bangkok does not disappoint in this aspect. Picture this: Marble floors, bathtub with a generous view of the city skyline, Roberto Cavalli products… I don’t know about you but I know where I’m staying next time I’m in town! After unpacking, I made my way over to the exclusive Club Lounge on Level 20, which is sophisticated, scenic and definitely worth visiting, just for the quality of service alone. During breakfast, expect to be served the standard international buffet with oriental touches such as the Japanese miso soup and various pickled delicacies. The house wine served in the afternoon and evening is quite decent and compliments the assortment of finger foods available for each and every taste. In busy Bangkok, the level of privacy that the Club Lounge offers is like a breath of fresh air. I managed to sneak my half-finished Cabernet Sauvignon back to my room which truly enhanced my bath. I found room service to be extremely helpful and responsive, even on such a busy night. That night, I fell asleep watching the iconic MahaNakhon building and dreamed of the prosciutto and burrata from the Club Lounge.

Overall, I absolutely loved my stay at Amara Bangkok and would definitely recommend it to all my friends from overseas for its top location, spectacular view, gorgeous rooms and second-to-none service.
