Four Seasons Resorts Thailand goes virtual this Global Wellness Day

Celebrating health and wellbeing and the motto ‘one day can change your whole life’, Four Seasons Resorts Thailand – Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle and Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui invite guests to celebrate Global Wellness Day on June 13, 2020 with virtual healing and mindful experiences conducted by the resort’s wellbeing experts and visiting masters. The online series, which will be broadcast on the resorts’ individual Instagram page, will take guests through a range of experiences – from tea meditation and wellness cooking, to kundalini yoga to mindfulness sessions with visiting practitioners.

Mindful Practice

“Even as we all stay safe at home out of an abundance of caution, we wanted to share transformational experiences that will help cope with times like these, and also give guests a chance to dream a little… of better times to come,” shares Anthony Gill, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Tented Camp Golden Triangle.

Taking inspiration from the Japanese Zen tradition of tea ceremony, guests are invited to start the day with Tea Meditation led by the resort’s Naturopath, Sudha Nair. “It is inspired by ‘ichigo ichi’ meaning one time, one meeting,” she shares, “Drinking tea is a part of our daily routine. This meditation brings a focus to mindfulness of the experience – from boiling the water to savouring the tea.” For this online session, guests are required to come prepared with a pot of boiling water and a tea cup with tea leaves.

“The healing power of nature’s embrace is much-needed – now more than ever!” shares Tobias Emmer, Camp Manager at Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle. On Global Wellness Day, the Camp will launch Forest Bathing – a therapy trail inspired by the jungles at the Golden Triangle. “Nature is a good medicine and being one with nature in times like these allows us to take our thoughts away from the daily routine,” Tobias adds.

Introducing this experience for the first time, guests will be transported to the beautiful jungle setting to partake in this mindful practice through a live broadcast. Ideal for those wanting to immerse in nature, the experience will inspire guests to connect with themselves and the serene atmosphere of the bamboo jungles at the Camp.

Kitchen Secrets

Bringing a focus to Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai’s soon-to-be-introduced plant-based menus, the resort’s Executive Chef, Liam Nealon demonstrates his favourite recipe – Beetroot Burger with Hummus – a light meal for those who want to achieve optimal weight, but still craving a wholesome plate. “I would be lying if I don’t say I have days when I crave the typical ‘junk food’ – a plant-based burger is my go-to on such days!” he smiles.

Down by the beach, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui’s extensive menus focuses on ocean-fresh seafood and Chef de Cuisine Ivo Benidio will demonstrate a simple and healthy recipe using fresh catch, while Jon Curiel, Director of Restaurants, brings his expertise in beverages to share his favourite health shot. “I call it TPC Aloe – very low sugar content to avoid undesirable insulin spikes and combines diuretic properties with antioxidants and electrolytes. Guests will have to tune into the virtual session to know what goes into this drink,” he smiles.

Visiting Masters

Over the past few years, the resorts have forged a strong connection with healing experts from around the world, who schedule visits year-round to give guests a truly immersive wellbeing experience. One of the resort’s most popular visiting experts, Reiki practitioner Shaylini Somani will guide guests through a meditation and healing session in a virtual format. “We will go through some breath work, followed by a guided meditation to take your mind off the day-to-day stresses and allow you to focus on the present,” she shares, “Distance healing can work in wonderful ways – from clearing deep-rooted energy blocks to achieving peace and cleansing across spaces and geographies.”

Kundalini Yoga, meditation and healing specialist, Paramjot Singh Khalsa and Evelyn Wörz, will guide guests through a session that focuses on overcoming stress, anxiety and fear. “Preparing for or resetting life to a ‘new normal’ can be difficult,” he admits, “Through this virtual session of Kundalini Meditation and Yoga, I hope you will be able to find the lightness and joy of life, and the boundless love that embraces us all.”

Focusing on the power of mindfulness, the educative session with Holistic Heath Practitioner, Carol Kandell is inspired by a global movement that focuses on conscious awareness of thoughts and words. “It utilises Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques (NLP),” she explains, “Complaining, gossiping and criticizing are destructive to not only our relationships with others but also to the very cells in our bodies. These unconscious habits lead to both physical and emotional breakdowns.” During this 60-minute workshop participants will discuss the reason people complain and how to lovingly counteract the same. “We will build new muscles by using practical tools with which to change these habits of speech, in a fun and playful way. You’ll be able to track your progress and watch as your life and relationships shift to one of greater abundance, freedom, connection and joy!”

“We live in extraordinary times. Now, more than ever, we look forward to bringing our guests closer to themselves, their loves ones and a deep appreciation of the present, which will help define each of our futures,” says Sean Mosher, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui as all three resorts prepare to celebrate Global Wellness Day on June 13, 2020.
