Great Wall Motor Partners with Tourism Authority of Thailand to Launch GWM Life Road Trooper: ‘Driving with Young Heart, Traveling to the End of the Road’ Eco-friendly Tourism Program Kicking off in Hua Hin

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to launch the eco-friendly tourism program GWM Life Road Trooper: ‘Driving with Young Heart, Traveling to the End of the Road’, which recently kicked off with an EV caravan trip from Bangkok to Hua Hin, from 23-24 April.

The program aims to promote tourism in secondary cities, boost local economies, and encourage the use of electric vehicles, which is good for the environment. GWM provided a total of seven All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUVs for the trip, reiterating GWM’s intention to be the xEV leader that listens to consumers and always creates new experiences for users.

Michael Zhang, Brand Communication Director of Great Wall Motor (Thailand), said: “GWM is honored to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to revive tourism in secondary cities once again by presenting brand new experiences to travelers and encouraging them to connect with the locals and help save the environment. This matches with our commitment in doing business to grow alongside Thai society solidly and sustainably. The first trip of the GWM Life Road Trooper: ‘Driving with Young Heart, Traveling to the End of the Road’ program kicked off in a couple of Thailand’s favorite travel destinations in Prachuap Khiri Khan province: Hua Hin and Pran Buri, where fun activities were held to support creative, safe and eco-friendly tourism. We truly hope that this program will inspire people to explore new perspectives in traveling to get closer to nature and help boost the country’s economy.”

In addition to the TAT, GWM Life Road Trooper is also supported by six other partners: the Foundation for the Promotion of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction (P-GER), the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), Tiew Thai ETC and Creative Media for Tourism Club. The program will run throughout the year to invite users and partners to explore new paths with each model of GWM’s electric vehicles under the Bio-Circular-Green economy (BCG) model, which leverages Thailand’s strengths in biodiversity and cultural richness to create higher value for the country’s products and services. The goal is also to support Thailand’s long-term growth and development in society, the economy, and the environment. This concept is consistent with ‘GWM Initiative’, GWM’s corporate social responsibility program, which focuses on social development, cultural diversity, and community building and development.

For the first trip of the program, the caravan started its trip to Prachuap Khiri Khan by driving All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUVs (a hybrid electric vehicle) from GWM ATT U PARK, Bangna. The caravan made its first stop to fuel the day with lunch by the sea before arriving at Kui Buri National Park. With the cooperation of the Foundation for the Promotion of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and the Armed Forces Development Command, led by Capt. Narong Kamkeaw, together with Suporn Polpan, the chief of Kui Buri National Park, the caravan group participated in nature-based activities including animal sightings and reforestation in Kui Buri National Park. After that, the participants arrived at the hotel and joined in a recreational activity in the evening. On the next day, the caravan group biked to Khao Kalok beach to clean the area amid gentle breezes and was joined by Pran Buri Chief Officer Preeda Sukjai and his team. The group then indulged themselves in delicious organic meals before heading back to Bangkok safely. The whole trip and all the activities went smoothly with great support from Isara Satapanaset, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Prachuap Khiri Khan office.

Juthathip Jaroenlap, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Executive Director of the Central Region, added: “The Tourism Authority of Thailand is delighted to be GWM’s main partner for the GWM Life Road Trooper: ‘Driving with Young Heart, Traveling to the End of the Road’, which aligns with our policy and mission in supporting tourism in secondary cities through collaboration with the private sector, encouraging eco-friendly tourism under the BCG Model concept, boosting the frequency of tourism and increasing trust for tourists’ health and safety. Moreover, we encourage responsible tourism and zero waste. I am certain that this program will help boost local tourism and encourage Thais to use more electric vehicles, which will greatly benefit the tourism industry in a sustainable way.”

The program offers exclusive deals for GWM customers, with discounts from partnered entrepreneurs, restaurants, and hotels with the GWM Life Road Trooper logo, such as YouYen Balcony restaurant, Blue Lotus hotel in Pran Buri, and Chicken and Bee in Sam Roi Yot District. To get the special discounts, simply show your key to any GWM vehicle or the GWM app from 23 April to 30 June 2022. More details can be found on the GWM Thailand Facebook page.

GWM is continuing to strengthen its partnership with the TAT in support of the ‘TAT YEC Green Road Trip’ with the Young Entrepreneur Chamber of Commerce in Samut Songkhram province by providing seven All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUVs for the EV caravan traveling the Central and Eastern regions to Sa Kaew, Prachin Buri, and Nakorn Nayok from 27-29 April 2022. This reaffirms GWM’s commitment to supporting eco-friendly tourism under the BCG model, as well as collaborating with every sector to continuously create new experiences for all Thais, all while boosting the nation’s economy to grow alongside Thai society.
