Great Wall Motor Summarizes Its First-Year Success, Continuing Its Commitment to Become a xEV Leader and Grow with Thai Society

Great Wall Motor (GWM) wrapped up the success of its first year of business operations in Thailand, summarizing important numbers and events that reinforce its leadership and commitment to create a clean and safe xEV society, as well as drive Thailand’s automobile industry to an international level. Stepping into the second year, GWM promises to continue creating and developing products, services and new experiences that elevate consumers’ well-being, and grow with Thai society in a long-term and sustainable way.

Narong Sritalayon, Managing Director of Great Wall Motor Thailand, said “Great Wall Motor proves the success of continuously listening to consumers’ voices and creating new experiences as the ‘Global Intelligent Technology Company’. Last year, we had created awareness and ignited the electric vehicle (xEV) trend, winning the hearts of Thai consumers and becoming a part of their lives. Moving forward, GWM will continue to offer future innovations and set new standards in the automotive industry. This will surely make 2022 an exciting year for everyone”.

On this occasion, GWM Thailand summarizes important numbers and events in 2021 that reflect the success of its business operations in leading the xEV industry and fostering a closer relationship with consumers, as follows:

  • Said the first hello to Thai consumers on 9 February

Great Wall Motor officially launched with “Sawasdee Thailand – Experience Your New xEV World” campaign on 9 February 2021 via live stream, announcing its mission to introduce a total of 9xEV vehicles in 3 years. With plans to enter popular models HAVAL and ORA into the Thai market, GWM revealed its business operations strategy in Thailand: become a xEV leader, listen to consumers’ voices and create new user experiences.

  • Received 6 awards, reaffirming its exceptional vehicles

After its official brand launch, GWM showcased its electric vehicles and cutting-edge technologies to the public for the first time at the 42nd Bangkok International Motor Show, earning massive positive interest and feedback from Thai consumers. The company also won 6 awards from this event: The Best Experience Pavilion Award, The Best Presentation Award, The Best Concept Car Award, The Best Design EV Award, The Most Innovative Pickup Award, and The Most Gorgeous Costume Design Award.

  • Produced its 1st vehicle in Thailand which ranked No. 1 for 3 consecutive months

Early June, GWM showed its readiness to produce quality vehicles with the first All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV model and car assembled at Great Wall Motor Manufacturing (Thailand) in Rayong province. The factory is the Smart Factory which is GWM’s second full-process plant outside China. All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV has earned enormous success since its launch, achieving the No. 1 Compact

SUV sales for three consecutive months in August to October of 2021 and maintaining its leading position in this segment.

  • Created the 4th space for everyone’s lifestyle

In October, GWM opened Thailand’s first GWM Experience Center at ICONSIAM, aiming to establish it as “The 4th Space” that people can spend time in other than home, workplace, or lifestyle venue. Everyone is welcome to explore, do their favorite activities, or relax in the space, while also learning more about GWM’s brand and products. In 2021, more than 50 activities were held at the venue with up to 1,544 participants. The center also welcomed more than 75,000 visitors last year.

  • Loaded 7,541 kWh, and opened 30 GWM Stores nationwide

GWM elevated Thailand’s EV ecosystem with the launch of G-Charge Supercharging Station at Soi Siam Square 7 in November. It is one of Thailand’s largest fast-charging stations and has served 257 vehicles in charging 7,541 kWh in 2021. Moreover, GWM has opened 30 GWM Stores, a mix of Direct Stores and Partner Stores, to better serve customers and allow them to access GWM’s products and services more conveniently.

  • 462 of Thailand’s beloved ORA Good Cat were delivered

The ORA Good Cat, a 100 percent electric vehicle, has gained popularity since its official launch, achieving a total delivery within two months of 462 vehicles by the end of 2021.

  • HAVAL JOLION was hyped with 4,800 pre-sale bookings

In November 2021, the all-new HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUV also proved to be a massive hit, with up to 4,800 reservations made within a 10-day pre-sale period. This reflected GWM’s success as well as its achievement in setting the new SUV-B segment standard.

  • More than 3,700 customers joined GWM family

In 2021, GWM welcomed 3,702 customers to its family from the three vehicles launched. Furthermore, there were over 50,000 people who downloaded and used the GWM application, 15% of which were daily active users. GWM also accommodated over 450,000 followers on Facebook and TikTok, which largely increased the fan community to almost 500,000 people.

Beyond business success, GWM prioritizes the quality of life of its customers, employees, and all Thais. In the last year, more than 1,000 job positions have been filled. GWM also organized a CSR project called “GO WITH ME, GO TOGETHER” to support COVID-19 victims by delivering food, consumer goods, and other necessities to over 30,000 people across the country. Additionally, GWM donated 460,000 surgical masks to 29 government units to help protect and reduce the spread of COVID-19. These are GWM’s efforts to stand by Thais and grow alongside with them in every situation.

In the second year of operations in Thailand, GWM plans to advance its development of new and innovative products and services, to create an excellent driving experience that best meets the needs of consumers. GWM will also continue joining hands with customers, business partners, and society, creating a movement that elevates the electric vehicle industry sustainably.
