Embracing the Chinese roots running through the multifaceted community outside its lobby doors, Capella Bangkok celebrates the first Mid-Autumn festival with a twist, offering its limited-edition Fortune Cakes as a delectable spin on the traditional mooncake recipe.
With the privilege to partake in the storied history of the Chao Phraya River and Charoenkrung road, French Executive Pastry Chef Sylvain Constans has drawn inspiration from walks around the district, where crumbling shophouses once home to Chinese traders stand next to European architecture built by foreign diplomats in ancient Siam. Celebrating this melting pot of cultures, Constans has put a pinch of his patisserie magic into the recipes of this year’s Fortune Cakes, creating a contemporary taste for luxury connoisseurs.
Presented in a crafted box with vintage images of Charoenkrung, the Capella Bangkok’s Fortune Cakes make their debut with four tantalizing flavours:
Zhong Qiu “中秋” (Mid-Autumn Festival): Raspberry, Rose and Lychee
Shang Yue “赏月” (Moon Appreciation): Passion Fruit, Thai Coconut and Caramel
Hua Hao “花好” (Blooming Blossoms): Jasmine, Vanilla and Grapefruit
Yue Yuan “月圆” (Full Moon): Chocolate, Praline and Yuzu
As Capella Bangkok’s way of saying “May the brightest moon bring blessings and happiness to you”, 20 fortunate winners will find a rose-gold coin worth THB 8,888 net hidden under one of the cakes inside their box. The coin doubles as a gift card and can be used toward stays or dining at the hotel’s restaurants and bar (terms and conditions apply).
Best enjoyed with a soothing cup of tea, Capella Bangkok’s Fortune Cake box set of 4 pieces is priced at THB 1,788 net (inclusive of service charge and government taxes).
