For the launch collection, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon collaborated with Dry Clean Only, a well-known Thai brand offering elaborate, contemporary designs and one-of-a-kind pieces made from vintage fabrics, to create the “Citizen of the World” collection inspired by the globe-trotting lifestyle of The Standard community.
Officially opening on 8 September 2022 with a star-studded launch event, The Shop at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon showcases the brand’s directional merchandise curation through inspired collaborations with some of Thailand’s most exciting young designers to bring a collection of elite merchandise to hotel guests, fans and loyalists.
A selection of hand-painted homeware ceramics from Nanzo, a Bangkok-based multi-disciplinary artist, will also be available at the store, as well as ready-to-wear and accessory lines from local brands Muunsan, lajewel and Jirawat, and souvenirs from Phayanchana, whose award-winning postcard collection honouring the 240th anniversary of Rattanakosin Kingdom Foundation was unveiled at Bangkok Design Week 2022 where The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon was featured.
“We have partnered with many internationally acclaimed brands for The Standard Shop, but are equally interested in working with burgeoning designers where a symbiotic relationship is created- we get to work with visionary creatives while our brand offers designers a global platform.” Khon, a Thai brand focusing on making handicrafts relevant in the modern world through skills and knowledge transfer, The Standard commissioned an exclusive collection of hand-printed silk screens and rattan pieces finished with nylon rope.
Nestled away in the corner of the relay lobby and decked out in the hotel’s trademark jewel tones, the boutique presents a selection of custom pieces designed in collaboration with local and international brands selected to be part of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon Design Collective.
“The Standard Shop highlights The Standard’s ability to identify talent and establish partnerships that are fresh and unexpected, curating customized products for the property and the brand,” said Mai Timblick, Chief Creative & Culture Officer. In a nod to modern times, The Standard also collaborated with Panpuri, a clean beauty, wellness and lifestyle brand, to commission a hand sanitizer set to be sold exclusively in The Shop, which includes disinfecting gels and sprays in custom scents.
