In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Mr & Mrs Smith is returning to its publishing roots with the launch of The World’s Sexiest Bedrooms this November.
The 296-page hardcover book – published globally by Thames & Hudson – features 35 supremely seductive suites shot by in-demand art photographer, Polly Brown, chosen for her flirtatious and playful style.
Cosy country hideaways, canopy covered safari lodges, cliff-clung island perches – this book compiles honeymoon-worthy hotels of every shape and size. There are old classics, new loves, passion projects and statement stays from the Cotswolds to the Caribbean, Paris to Phuket. An impressive 8 hotel suites in Asia made the cut, from the cliffs of Uluwatu to the slopes of Niseko and city streets of Hong Kong – hotels like Alila Uluwatu, Zaborin and The Upper House are flying the flag for internationally recognised design and hospitality.
Each spread pairs Polly’s photographs – more than 200 in total – with an ode to the room’s romantic allure, an insider guide to the hotel and the local area, and a quote from whichever tastemaker had the hard task of staying there to double-check its cut-above credentials. Reviewers featured include culture connoisseur Stephen Bayley, design doyenne Faye Toogood, skincare pioneer Matthew Malin, pyjama queen Olivia von Halle and The Guardian ’s Jess Cartner-Morley.
Mr & Mrs Smith founder Tamara Lohan said: ‘We launched our first guide back in 2003 book because we were so tired of traditional hotel guide books. In much the same way, travel photography today has become so similar and we were desperate to do something disruptive. Thankfully we met the brilliant Polly and this beautiful book was born.’
Her husband and co-founder, James Lohan, added: ‘We wanted to mark our anniversary in the best way we knew how – paying tribute to the most romantic rooms we’ve discovered in proper, unputdownable print. We hope it inspires another 15 years of Do Not Disturb signhanging and raises a few eyebrows…’
As a bonus, each copy of the book comes with a $40 USD Mr & Mrs Smith voucher to redeem against any stay in its hotel and villa collection. There are also five ‘golden tickets’ giving lucky recipients £1,000 / USD 1793 to spend.
A separate suite of Polly Brown images also graces this year’s limited-edition Mr & Mrs Smith gift cards, released in tandem with the book and available to buy from $90 SGD.
