Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok is celebrating eight years of providing European luxurious and truly memorable Thai hospitality experiences for local and international guests with a series of exceptional events and promotions throughout the month of September.
On 27 September 2018, Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok celebrates its eighth anniversary of providing unrivalled comfort and luxury to guests with a traditional Thai classical masked dance based upon Ramayana (known as Ramakien Epic).
The classical “Khon” performance was formerly witnessed only at the royal court performed by men in masked and accompanied by narrators and a traditional “Pipphat” ensemble playing classical Thai music on wind and percussion instruments.
Hotel guests and visitors are invited to enjoy the remarkable performance of an episode from Ramayana Epic by members of the Fine Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture. “Khon” performance will take place in the lavish setting of the hotel’s spacious lobby on Thursday, 27 September 2018 from 18:00 hrs.
“The hotel opened its door to guests for the first time on 27 September 2010 and this year we are delighted to be celebrating our eighth anniversary. It is another very important year for us. Thailand with its unique culture is incredible and amazing and, because of that, we want to portray Thailand and Thai culture through our celebrations,” said hotel General Manager Alex Pichel. “We are thrilled to share these incredible performances with our guests. The traditional Thai classical masked dance and Thai classical music together symbolise the nobility and elegance of Thai culture in the olden days. We truly believe that it will be a mesmerising performance as we begin yet another fascinating year for all of us at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.”
The anniversary celebrations continue for eight days from 27 September to 4 October 2018, at the hotel’s lavish lobby, restaurants and spa. The daily festivities include live craftsmanship demonstrations in the lobby where guests and visitors will learn about Thai fruit carving, Thai hand garlands and the traditional lookchoop Thai dessert.
Nightly performances of “Khim,” a classical Thai stringed musical instrument take place in the lobby from 17:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs.
