Hua Hin Recharge Project

Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports chaired the National Committee on Tourism Meeting on behalf of Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, agreed to add more potential areas, including Prachuap Khirikhan, Phetchaburi, Bangkok and Buriram to be pilot areas welcoming international tourists who have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, without having to undergo the mandated quarantine period, starting in October 2021.

Ms. Trisulee Trisoranakul, Deputy Spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office said “Prachuap Khirikhan province is an important vacation destination for both Thais and foreigners, a health and wellness destination and also has connecting routes from Bangkok and Phetchaburi.”

“The key to the success of the plan is that 70% of the population in all pilot areas as well as the tourism frontline employees will receive full inoculation. The committee assigned concerned offices to provide a sufficient amount of vaccines to the mentioned areas. The approved proposal will be presented to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) within May for further consideration.” added Ms. Trisulee.

The Hua Hin Recharge project has been previously presented to Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul and Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn and has led to the consideration of the National Committee on Tourism to expand the project to Prachuab Kirikhan and Petchaburi also on 7th May 2021.

Hua Hin Recharge is a collaboration of public, healthcare and private representatives in Hua Hin

Municipality to provide accurate vaccine information to all of the population, to urge the government to accelerate the vaccine allocation to Hua Hin Municipality starting from 1st June, to achieve the herd immunity target of 100% of healthcare workers and hospitality workers and of 70% of its population and to receive official approval to allow international travellers who have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus to visit Hua Hin Municipality without having to undergo the mandated quarantine period, starting in October 2021.

“On behalf of the Hua Hin Recharge team, we are delighted that the government has considered our proposal leading to the vaccine allocation and assigning Prachuab Kirikhan to be one of the pilot areas welcoming international tourists in Quarter 4 2021. According to the plan, the revenue forecast from foreign travellers in October to December 2021 is 1.2 billion baht from 100,000 expected travellers,” said Krod Rojanastien, one of the heads of the Hua Hin Recharge project.

Dr. Suriya Kuharat, Provincial Public Health Medical Doctor to Prachaub Kirikhan and the head of the Hua Hin Recharge project said “Provincial health officers, healthcare workers and all village health volunteers have been providing vaccine knowledge and encouraging residents to register for a COVID-19 jab via the “Mor Prom” platform for the first group of vulnerable people: the elderly and those who have any of the seven chronic diseases. Meanwhile, other local residents and tourism employees working in Hua Hin are able to register to the Whitelist for the next call which will be announced soon.”
