IHG Hotels & Resorts Signs Second voco Property in Thailand, Set to Open in 2025

voco Bangkok Surawong facadeIHG Hotels & Resorts, a global hospitality giant, has announced its second signing of a voco-branded property in Thailand. voco Bangkok Surawong will be opened in 2025 after a full renovation by Tawanna Property Company Limited, a leading real estate investor and developer in Thailand. The signing ceremony was led by Chansamorn Wattanavekin, Chairman of Tawanna Property Company Limited. The 242-room voco Bangkok Surawong will be converted from the former Tawanna Bangkok hotel and will offer travellers the unique and distinctive lifestyle experience that voco hotels are renowned for.

Bangkok is a city that attracts over 25 million visitors annually and has historically been a hub for IHG to launch new brands such as Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, and the Vignette Collection. The success of these brand launches has led to multiple signings and openings across Thailand and Asia. The addition of voco Bangkok Surawong to the voco brand portfolio is a testament to the brand’s continued growth in the premium segment.

Since its global launch in 2018, voco hotels have experienced rapid growth, with 41 open hotels and 34 more in the pipeline. Saowarin Chanprakaisi, Director of Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG, expressed her excitement at partnering with Tawanna Property Company Limited for the second signing of voco hotels in Thailand. She also highlighted the conversion opportunities and how owners benefit from the pace at which voco hotels convert into IHG systems, allowing them to quickly expand on a global scale and maximize returns.

voco Bangkok Surawong is located in the heart of Surawong, near Silom and Sathorn. Guests can enjoy popular restaurants, shopping, and entertainment attractions nearby and are within walking distance of Lumphini Park. The hotel offers two restaurants and bars, more than 500 square metres of meeting rooms, an outdoor pool, a gym and a Kids Club. The hotel is just a 40-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, making it convenient for travellers.

Thailand is a strong growth market for IHG, with 30 hotels across nine brands in the country and 36 more in the pipeline. The company is meeting demand and aims to double its estate across all its brands in Thailand by 2026.
