In recognition of its commitment to Marriott International’s sustainability & Social Impact Goals, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is
delighted to announce that the resort has met the requirement of Green Hotel Standard – Gold Level and certified by Department of Environmental Quality Promotion Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment this year. The Green Hotel Award certificate and plaque recognized that the resort has passed assessments and criteria among 74 Green Hotel – Gold Level and total 352 venues of all categories across the country.
Recently, Mr. George Varughese, General Manager of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa attended The Green Hotel Award 2019 and accepted the prestigious award of ‘G-Green Hotel – Gold Level from Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Thailand’s Minister of Natural Resources and
Environment during the award ceremony which held on 16 December 2019 at Vayupak meeting room, Centra by Centara Government Complex Hotel Cheng Wattana, Bangkok.
“It’s an honour to receive the highest Gold level of The Green Hotel Award. It is part of our hotel positioning and commitments since open its door to business. It raises the bar and proven that our hotel is truly an eco-friendly destination. This recognition also has enhances our Green hotel reputation in the hospitality business both regional and international stages” said, Mr. George Varughese, General Manager of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa.
The innovative sustainability programmes that our resort is continue working on it, the highlight projects are ‘Save Water, Drink Air’ which partnered with the Generation Water – in order to eliminate the use of the single plastic bottles; The Skip The Straw at every restaurants & bars; Food Waste Management; numerous energy-saving projects; Reducing the carbon footprints by using the local products in the area; Supporting the local communities projects such as the welcome bracelets made from natural products and by Mai Khao community; working with the vendors that provide the Eco-friendly products just to name a few. Last but not least, our strongly commitment on the Mai Khao Marine Turtle preservation and ecosystem conservation.
