Independent, family-owned distiller William Grant & Sons Ltd announced the launch of The Distillers Library Bangkok, an exclusive space that brings years of the Grant family’s storied legacy to Thailand. The Distillers Library was first launched in Singapore in April 2021 followed by China and Vietnam in May 2022. Bangkok is the next city in the world to bring consumers this thoughtfully curated experience.

Located at Piman 49 Heritage Project on Sukhumvit 49, The Distillers Library is an invite-only space offering the highest level of hospitality through exclusive events and tastings. Hosted by the distiller’s brand ambassadors, invited guests will discover a repository of wisdom through intimate encounters with the rarest and most precious liquids in the whisky world from the private archives of the William Grant & Sons family.

“Thailand has experienced rapid socio-economic growth in the last five years and its segment of affluent individuals continues to grow steadily, with Knight Frank estimating a 16% growth by 2025,” said Satya Sharma, Regional Managing Director of Southeast Asia and Australasia at William Grant & Sons. “We want to provide this increasingly discerning audience a conducive and inspiring space for them to indulge in luxury whiskies and the unseen wonders that William Grant & Sons has to offer.”

Max Chakrit Benedetti, Managing Director of Italasia Trading (Thailand) Co. Ltd added, “We are excited to partner William Grant & Sons to bring The Distillers Library to Thailand. It will redefine the traditional private room experience, and facilitate true appreciation of rare and precious liquids through knowledge sharing among those who are deeply passionate about the art and science of whisky.”

To celebrate the opening of The Distillers Library in Bangkok, William Grant & Sons will be bringing to market the first of a series of strictly private releases from the ghost Ladyburn distillery. In addition, it will introduce some extremely rare whiskies for the first time in Thailand including one of 148 globally-available bottles of The Balvenie 50YO. Connoisseurs and collectors can also expect other limited-edition collections and exceptional single cask bottlings at The Distillers Library such as the Glenfiddich 1973 Armagnac, 1978 Hogshead and 1978 Oloroso casks.

The Grant family’s illustrious history began in 1887 when William Grant built his first distillery with the help of his nine children and a single stonemason, in the Northeast of Scotland. He had a single-minded ambition to create the ‘best dram in the valley’. Six generations later, William Grant & Sons, pioneer of the single malt category, remains family-owned and upholds the spirit of independence, determination and innovation held by its founder.

Pulled from the family’s archive, each precious whisky at The Distillers Library tells a tale of heritage and tradition.

These include rare expressions of Glenfiddich, the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Whisky[1].  Glenfiddich has excelled for more than a hundred and thirty years, since it first ran from the stills on Christmas Day, 1887. Since then, Malt Master Brian Kinsman has embodied William Grant’s spirit of innovation through exquisite finishings and new expressions. While Glenfiddich is now the world’s best-selling single malt Scotch whisky, the brand is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned and is still produced in the same distillery which William Grant and his family hand-built.

Guests of The Distillers Library will also get to experience limited bottlings of The Balvenie. The Balvenie is dedicated to the five rare crafts that are used to create its distinctive taste – growing its own barley, using traditional floor maltings, keeping both coppersmiths and coopers on site, and the expertise of Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE.
