JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa Brings Malaysian Dishes to Ginja Taste’s Table


JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is delighted to welcome Guest Chef Mohd Shawal Basry, who will showcase his culinary prowess at ‘A Taste of Malaysia’ food festival, use traditional recipes that have been passed through the generations with the emphasis on best quality produces. The collaboration, supported by the award winning restaurant, Bijan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, aimed to introduce Malaysia’s heritage cuisine at the international level. Travelers and Phuket residents will enjoy an unforgettable gastronomic experience with authentic Malaysian flavors, from 5 – 8 April, at Ginja Taste, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa During the 4-day programme, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa offered four different themes, namely cooking like Master Malaysian Chef workshop and dinner; Malaysian specialties with a choice of A la carte menu or set menu and Malaysian buffet dinner. Among the dishes served were Rendang Kambing, Kerabu Manga, Sotong Hitam Manis, Ulam-Ulaman dengan Aneka Sambal, Roti Jala Kuah Durian and Kek Gula Melaka.

The programme for the “A Taste of Malaysia” Food Festival as following:
April 5, from 4 pm onwards: The hands-on cooking workshop at Ginja Cook, learn how to cook traditional Malaysian family-style dishes with Guest Chef Shawal and followed by dinner. Dishes include Satay, Rendang Ayam and Sayur Lodeh. Price is THB 2,200++ per person.

April 6 – 7, from 6.30 pm onwards: Select either Malaysian a la carte menu or special Malaysian degustation set dinner at Ginja Taste. The stand-out dishes that you must-try, Ikan Malabar Bakar, Rusuk Rendang Tuk Hitam, Cucur Udang, Otak Otak just to name a few. Set menu price is THB 1,400++ per person, inclusive of a 5-course degustation set menu.

April 8, from 6.30 to 10 pm: The Malaysian Buffet Dinner at Ginja Taste. The menu crafted by Guest Chef Mohd Shawal Basry, offered a spread of delectable Malaysian appetizers, soup, main courses and desserts. Price is THB 1,500++ per person
