Dimension Data Thailand together with the world’s leading technology companies, namely Bosch, Cisco, F5, NetApp, NTT Data, NTT Security and SAP, recently held a seminar, complete with representative booths and speeches on the topic of Smart Manufacturing Experience 2018 in the Ballroom at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel. The seminar provided in-depth knowledge for manufacturing firms around the globe who have taken the lead in embracing industry 4.0 and rely on advanced manufacturing technologies to drive business results. This includes using processes which have a strong ability to compete and transform by responding to market shifts and technology trends.
One of the key technologies which brought about the era of industry 4.0 or Smart Manufacturing, is the Internet of Things or IoT. The IoT is a revolution in business which enables machines in the production line to communicate in real-time through a good network connection. This makes the system more efficient, reduces downtime, enables adaptation to times of higher or lower demand and ensures high-quality goods are produced at a lower cost. Including new software applications like predictive maintenance, business intelligence, analytics and Big Data help complete the Smart Factory and make it more competitive and effective.
Despite its strong current position, Thailand’s manufacturing industry is challenged by lower-cost competitors from emerging economies and rapidly changing technologies. Thus, manufacturing firms need to change and transform continually by embracing industry 4.0 to propel and sustain competitiveness in manufacturing processing in the future.
