Chef Jutamas “Som” Theantae, one of Thailand’s most esteemed female chefs, together with her expert kitchen team have finally given life to a refined yet emotionally-charged and thought-provoking menu for a much anticipated new fine dining venue located in Sukhumvit soi 49.
Karmakamet Conveyance’s Tasting Menu is the cumulative work reflecting Chef Som’s culinary philosophy and experience throughout her years. The Karmakamet Conveyance menu is an invitation to embark on a unique culinary journey designed to stimulate introspective wonders, thoughts, and memories. As these stories unfold, diners may find themselves transported to another time or place, be it past or even future.
Each course is a sophisticated patchwork of fresh and transformed ingredients, to which Chef Som retains flavors in their truest form to present familiar comfort-food inspired dishes. One of her curries contains over 50 different herbs and spices to create an exquisite original curry blend. Chef Som’s complex culinary technique and style take precedence over aesthetics, and it’s here you’ll find the beating heart to every dish.
The introduction and sequence of the tasting menu will be a mystery. The diners are encouraged to approach the tasting menu with an open mind, to set aside any preconceived notions and discover the story of flavors hidden within. As they reveal themselves, the diners may find that thoughts, feelings, and memories, not typically associated with what is seen on the plate, suddenly emerge.
The menu will give away very little, displaying only the names of each course such as ‘Grains’, ‘Warmth’, ‘Rainforest’, ‘Village’, ‘Life’ followed by a short and mysterious description.
