Bangkok welcomes an exciting addition to its dining scene in the form of the award-winning Sri Lankan seafood restaurant, Ministry of Crab.
Founded in Colombo in 2011 by celebrated chef Dharshan Munidasa and cricket legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, Ministry of Crab quickly earned a reputation as Sri Lanka’s most sought-after restaurant for its delectable Mud Crabs and King Prawns.
Among its many accolades, Ministry of Crab has proven a mainstay in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list from 2015 to 2019. The restaurant claimed the 35th position in the 2019 edition of the awards, which marked it as No.1 in all of Sri Lanka.
Primely located in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area, Ministry of Crab’s latest opening promises guests a no-frills, casual and spontaneous experience amid a colonial-style setting that’s inspired by the Colombo flagship. The two-storey restaurant will welcome guests on the ground floor with an open kitchen accompanied by seating for 30, while an upstairs bar will welcome another 56 guests.
Crustacean fans are in for a treat thanks to a menu that’s packed with top-quality crab and prawn. Diners can enjoy Ministry of Crab’s signature Mud Crab in portions ranging from half-kilo to the two-kilogram, larger-than-life Crabzilla, prepared in a variety of mouthwatering ways, from Pepper Crab to the unique Garlic Chilli Crab.
Prawn also has its share of the spotlight, available starting from a half-dozen batch of black tiger prawns up to the 600g Prawnzilla. For those craving something different, the menu also offers options like Chicken Curry Rice, Oyster Sixers and Clams.
As of 1 December 2019, the restaurant will open for dinner 6pm – 11.30pm.
From 11 Dec onwards, it will open for lunch 11.30am – 2.30pm and dinner 6pm – 11.30pm. Reservations will be available starting from 16 November 2019.
