Michelin-starred Elements Restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, renowned for its innovative French cuisine with Japanese influence, is pleased to be hosting a special dinner featuring some of the best wines from Bordeaux’s The Left Bank paired with a fabulous 5-course degustation menu prepared by Chef de Cuisine Hans Zahner and his team.
Bordeaux is one of the most recognized wine regions in the world. The left and right bank refers to either side of the Gironde River and its two subsidiaries, the Dordogne and the Garonne. The Médoc, located on the left bank to the north of Bordeaux city, is made up of 8 appellations. The most famous of these are Margaux, St-Julien, Pauillac and St-Estèphe. In 1855 Napoleon III had the very best wines of the Médoc classified in a pyramid of five levels known as the 1st to 5th Growths. Only the best wine-producing châteaux were included, so even 5th Growth wines were considered to be exceptional. The classification remains largely unchanged in almost 165 years. And now gourmands can enjoy exceptional wines from the left bank such as a 2014 St-Estèphe from Chateau Montrose paired with smoked eel and Kurobuta pork belly; a 2013 Pauillac from Chateau Pinchon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande complementing a dish of poached blue lobster; and a stunning 2010 Margaux from Chateau Palmer matched with Kagoshima wagyu A3.
The Left Bank Wine Dinner takes place at Elements Restaurant from 18:45 onwards on Friday, 22 November 2019. Price is Baht 12,000++ per person. Early Bird Price offer at Baht 9,500++ if booked and paid for before 12 November 2019.
