Taiwan Excellence, a symbol of quality and innovation for Taiwanese products, is holding a Taiwan Excellence Smart Transportation Forum at TAIWAN EXPO 2018 hosted at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC), in Bang Na today; an event promoting innovative Taiwanese products to Thailand that embrace the latest technology and electronics in the pursuit of the most advanced public transport systems of tomorrow.
The Forum is organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), who, along with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, set up Taiwan Excellence, with Taiwan Trade Centre who are a Forum partner too. President & CEO at TAITRA, Walter M.S. Yeh opens the invite-only event, whilst civil engineer and public-transport specialist Dr. Suchatvee Suwansawat, President of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang delivers the keynote speech focused ondeveloping transport solutions in Thailand.
Presided over by well-known DJ and TV personality, Piyawat Kempetch, VIP speakers discuss traffic control systems, smart bus travel solutions, road safety measures and the potential use of embedded software in the transport systems of the future.
Dr. Cheng-Fang Lo, the Chairman of GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology, speaking about Commercial drone for smart city innovative applications, highlights this technology in the monitoring, application and management of disasters. “At the Taiwan Excellence Smart Transportation Forum, GEOSAT Aerospace, from Taiwan, looks at quick damage assessments and restoration in the case of the 2014 Kaohsiung city gas-pipe explosions as well as disease diagnostics and treatment within Malaysian palm oil plantations.”
Key Account Manager at Advantech, Nikhom Detkhunthod sheds light on how Thailand could benefit from Upgrading City Buses with Smart Ticketing and Fleet Management Systems and how the time is right for transport transformations. “A rapid change in intelligent transportation has occurred worldwide and the whole industry’s hungry for technological advancement. We have the ability for a total solution for the expansion plans for thousands of buses, not just with on-board ticketing solutions, but also an intelligent fleet management system to provide better services to Thailand’s customers, and to ensure safe and efficient operations.”
V2X and Road Safety is under the spotlight with Ryan Chu, Senior Manager at Forward Electronics, who discusses the positive, wide-reaching implications of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology. “By using dedicated short-range communication or DSRC solutions, vehicles can communicate with other vehicles, emergency vehicles, traffic signs, digital road signs and pedestrians; effectively reducing traffic accidents and traffic congestion, as well as promoting the development of smart transportation in the near future”
Embedded PCs engaged in edge computing and utilized for remote monitoring and control are explored by Anan Insong, Managing Director at Axiomtek’s Thailand office. He delves into Axiomtek Smart Transportation Solutions, Security and Surveillance whilst giving an overview of one of the company’s smart transportation box computers. “Axiomtek’s tBOX500-510-FL is a modular powerful fanless embedded system featuring vehicle, railway and marine-related certifications, industrial grade temperatures and various I/O connectors.”
The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion and other zones within TAIWAN EXPO 2018 are open for invitees to the Taiwan Excellence Smart Transportation Forum to explore; discovering lifestyle and hi-tech products that connect to an international community whilst affording valuable insights into how Taiwanese industry can benefit Thailand’s booming economy and industries.
