At Doi Inthanon National Park, Chom Thong district, Chiang Mai province, a large number of Thai tourists are keen to revel in the cold weather. The number of tourists who stayed overnight at Doi Inthanon National Park yesterday was 5,598, of that figure 5,526 were Thais and 72 foreigners. They arrived during the day in 1,580 vehicles that were parked overnight. With such an influx of people, the authorities have called on tourists to help keep their surroundings clean, and if possible, take their throw-out rubbish with them when they leave the mountain and dispose of it later to conserve the pristine mountain environment.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere was lively along the Mekong River in Nong Khai especially at Phra That Klang Nam, as tourists from towns nationwide arrived to worship Phra That Klang Nam. They also worshiped Phra That La Nong or a replica of Phra That Klang Nam located alongside the Mekong River near the submerged Phra That Klang Nam, midst bracing cool weather. The lowest temperature along the Mekong River was measured at 18 degrees Celsius, while a light fog hovered over the Mekong River in the early morning.
The area in front of Lamduan temple on the Mekong river has been bustling with visiting tourists since early morning. Tourists like to take photos of the two water spitting Naga statues which are more than 10 meters in height. The site is considered one of the most important tourist attractions and landmarks of Nong Khai, and the present cool weather is a welcome bonus for visitors.
