Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin’s Surprise Starter in Celebration of One MICHELIN Star for the Fourth Consecutive Year

In celebration of a one-Michelin-star-repute status for four consecutive years, Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin, the renowned fine-dining modern-Thai-cuisine restaurant at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, will be showcasing a surprise starter for each guest until 15 February 2021.

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin Head Chef Chayawee Suthcharitchan, in collaboration with Chef Henrik Yde-Andersen of Copenhagen’s famous Kiin Kiin restaurant, has designed a meaningful welcome-surprise starter for a four-course, six-course and eight-course Winter Journey set menu.

Winter Journey, comprising eight tantalising courses, begins with Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin’s famous “street food” nibbles, such as soya meringue, moon food, chicken satay, Chiang Mai sausage, green curry and crab salad cornetto and selections of leaves of Thailand.

The welcome-surprise starter features sunchokes with braised Kurobuta pork, salty Nutella and massaman flavours. Sunchokes are herbs that come from a sunflower and symbolise adoration, loyalty and longevity and are well known for being ‘happy’ flowers, making them the perfect gift to bring joy to our guests visiting Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin on this special occasion. The braised Kurobuta pork is sous-vide 48-hour with massaman curry and served with three variations of sunchokes from the Royal Project, including sunchoke and Nutella purée; sunchoke pickled and sunchoke crisps.

The captivating set dinner features smoked salmon, bonito, wasabi cream, ponzu and cucumber; tom yum soup, prawn cracker, shrimp taco, lobster and tofu noodles; kra pao foie gras with basil hollandaise and crispy rice; and beef-glazed sweet soya sauce, pickled kumquat and crispy beef baked rice.

“This amazing eight-course set dinner concludes perfectly with a truly mesmerising and enchanting dessert,” explained Chef Chayawee Suthcharitchan. “Lychee flambé with rose foam and grilled sweet corn, sticky rice, corn ice cream, and candyfloss poured with salted coconut soup with popcorn as my special surprise.”

The playful flavours and elements of the Winter Journey set menu are crafted and choreographed with care and precision to bring out the distinctive Thai flavours in each dish using daring combinations.

“We are very excited to offer once again a very special Michelin-star dining experience at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin. Of course, we continue to deliver all food and beverage services using the renowned Kempinski White Glove Services, and we are maintaining the highest possible standards of health and safety in our kitchens, restaurants and public areas,” said Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok Managing Director Richard Schestak. “Importantly, we remain committed to creating modern Thai cuisine with authentic ingredients based upon traditional recipes and produced using modern cooking techniques.”
