Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) is operating larger aircraft and has adjusted its flight schedule to accommodate THAI passengers as well as Thai nationals originally booked on other airlines who were stranded at Hong Kong International Airport.
Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, said that out of concern for the safety of passengers who are stranded at Hong Kong International Airport as a result of the protest in Hong Kong, Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, Minister of Transport, and Mr. Thaworn Senium, Deputy Minister of Transport, have requested THAI to arrange flights to transport passengers as soon as they are permitted to fly. Yesterday (13 August 2019) THAI transported both THAI passengers and Thai nationals who were originally booked on other others. Details are as follows:
• Five flights from Bangkok to Hong Kong:
Flight TG600/628/638/606/602 on 13 August 2019.
A total of 1,716 passengers departed from Bangkok, which included 11 babies.
• Four flights from Hong Kong to Bangkok:
Flight TG601/629/639/607 (One flight TG603 was cancelled).
A total of 921 passengers were transported.
As protesters closed off the check-in and immigration entrance area, approximately 150 THAI passengers were stranded and around 60 passengers originally booked on other airlines (approximately 90% were Thai nationals). THAI made arrangements for passengers to check-in and pass immigration before afternoon that day, in order to board their respective flights. THAI anticipates that all passengers will be transported by the end of today.
