The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Toyota Motor Thailand recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the agreement to jointly promote the TAT’s ‘Amazing Thailand Go Local‘ campaign.
The MOU is in line with the Thai government’s initiative to promote the emerging secondary destinations around the Kingdom. It hopes to achieve a better distribution of tourist arrivals between urban and rural areas, even out the high seasonality factor between the months of travel and encourage more weekday travel to reduce pressure on the weekends.

Mr, Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said “TAT’s Amazing Thailand Go Local initiative supports the existing government policy and expands on its main themes to partner with several leading corporations and organisations in both the public and private sectors to implement and promote this important project year-around.
“TAT and Toyota are organising promotional activities to encourage domestic Thai travel with creative itineraries that visit local communities and include local Thai experiences,” he added.
Under the MOU, the initial stage is a caravan trip, ‘Go Local by Hilux Revo Rocco’, that will take place from 11 to 13 May and cover the Southern Thai provinces of Trang and Satun. Toyota’s 30 Revos taking part in the caravan will showcase the rugged vehicle’s superior performance while visiting local attractions that engage and encourage interaction with the local community.
