NokScoot inaugurated its flight from Bangkok to Delhi last night, marking the medium-haul budget airline’s first foray to the Indian subcontinent.

The launch of the four-weekly service was celebrated at Don Mueang International Airport’s departure gate by NokScoot’s flight crew (pictured above).

Onboard the maiden flight, passengers are served by cabin attendants donned with Indian-styled shawl and forehead jewellery.

NokScoot’s new Indian hot meals – murgh and mughai with rice, aloo peas and patan with roti (vegetarian) – were also introduced on the flight.

“We are enthusiastic about the inauguration (of Delhi services) which spreads our footprint to the western side of Asia from our core North Asian flight operation to the east of Thailand,” said NokScoot CEO Chief Yodchai Sudhidhanakul.

The Bangkok-Delhi service precedes other routes to India on NokScoot’s radar screen, he added.

NokScoot aims to particularly tap outbound travellers from India, which is one of Thailand’s top ten sources of visitor arrivals, with 1.41 million being recorded from that country last year, up 18% over 2016, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Though there are quite carriers operating on Bangkok-Delhi route, NokScoot, a joint venture between Thai budget airline Nok Ar and Singapore’s Scoot, sees the growing travel demand, both for leisure and business purposes, on the city-pair, to support capacity it will render.

“We will offer value proposition, convenience, and safe and sound services which we are known for our Delhi flights,” Mr Yodchai noted.

NokScoot is offering discounted one-way economy fares starting from THB 3,100, inclusive of tax and fuel surcharge, for the Bangkok-Delhi services, for travel from December 18, 2018 to March 30 March 2019.

The promotional tickets are available for purchase on until December 31, 2018 with terms and conditions applied.
