Organized by philanthropist company, Kula, founded by Kanokewan Wuttithamrong, in cooperation with Music Director, Dr. Akkrawat Srinarong, along with event partners United Flour Mill PCL and KIS International School, the “A Night to Remember” Charity Concert & Silent Auction recently held at the beautiful Aksra Theatre was a resounding success.
The fund-raising evening of passion and purpose featured a total of over 130 performers including Harvard University’s oldest a cappella group, the Harvard Krokodiloes, the award-winning Thai Youth Orchestra, the internationally renowned cross-over band VieTrio, and the debut of 22-year-old self-taught, blind pianist, Somsak “First” Chaima. The show also provided an opportunity for students from the Mercy Center to realize their talent in Thai dance and music for the very first time on stage, side by side with professional performers.
The Silent Auction, which raised over THB 230,000, showcased 38 pieces of artwork created by students from six renowned international schools namely, Astra Academy International School, BASIS International School, International School Bangkok, KIS International School, Ruamrudee International School (Ratchapreuk Campus) and Shrewsbury International School Bangkok (Riverside Campus).
As a result of the fun and inspiring evening, over THB 1 million was raised in aid of two very worthwhile charities – the Bangkok Post Foundation and the Mercy Center’s Human Development Foundation – which have been admirably improving the quality of life for so many underprivileged children and youths in Thailand for so many years. It was truly a night to remember!
