The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) held its prestigious Annual Summit 2024 at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort, Macao, celebrating outstanding contributions from leading tourism professionals. Recognized for their significant impact on the Asia Pacific travel industry, these individuals were lauded at the PATA Annual Summit Welcome Dinner Reception and Awards Presentation hosted by the Macao Government Tourism Office and SJM Resorts, S.A.

Honouring Excellence:
- PATA Life Membership Award
Darren Ng, Managing Director of TTG Asia Media Pte Ltd, received the PATA Life Membership, the highest individual honour bestowed by the Association. This award recognizes Ng’s extensive leadership and dedication to PATA over several decades. His roles included Chairman of the PATA Singapore Chapter and various advisory positions within PATA’s council and boards from 1990 to 2023.Darren Ng’s strategic vision has propelled TTG Asia Media to significant heights. Under his leadership since 1984 and mainly as Managing Director since 2000, TTG Asia Media has consistently grown in event management and travel trade publishing, expanding its reach across Asia.
- PATA Award of Merit
Elizabeth M. Chin, Executive Director of the PATA New York Chapter, was honoured with the PATA Award of Merit for her consistent and impactful contributions to PATA and its chapter network. Chin, who founded ECI Travel World in 1986, has been a pivotal figure in the travel industry, providing tailored travel experiences and supporting PATA’s mission through her extensive experience and leadership. - PATA Chairman’s Award
Mayur Patel, Head of Asia at OAG, was presented with the PATA Chairman’s Award, acknowledging individuals’ support, loyalty, and dedication during their tenure. Patel’s expertise in business development and sales in the aviation sector has been invaluable. Before his role at OAG, Patel held significant positions at Amadeus and IATA, focusing on aviation data solutions and services.
New Appointments:
Soon-Hwa Wong was appointed as PATA Ambassador for Greater China. With over 40 years in the travel and tourism industry, Wong brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the Asia Pacific market. As CEO of AsiaChina Pte Ltd, Wong’s role as PATA Ambassador will facilitate collaboration among stakeholders and enhance PATA’s presence in Greater China.
Wong’s extensive network and leadership roles, including Immediate Past Chair of PATA and Chair of the PATA Singapore Chapter, underline his commitment to driving change and innovation in the tourism industry. His work with the Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS) showcases his dedication to shaping the future of tourism and hospitality.
