The host of the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) will hold the event from 16th – 22 nd January 2022, at Sokha Beach Resort, Sihanoukville under the theme “ASEAN – A Community of Peace and Shared Future”. The Sokha Beach Resort, in Sihanoukville, houses the largest meeting space in the city. A seaside port city in the south, Sihanoukville has been designated by the Kingdom as a special multi-purpose economic zone as part of its large economic expansion and diversifying growth.

As one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in Southeast Asia, Cambodia’s rich coastal heritage and natural resources in the Southwest offer a wide range of cultural and eco-tourism sites. The country’s unique tourism products are poised to recover tourism amidst this long-drawn pandemic.

On 1st April 2021, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, formally approved a 2020 – 2025 three-phased national tourism roadmap to navigate the sector’s emergence from the Covid-19 pandemic and support its recovery initiatives.

Armed with a new slogan, “Cambodia – a Small Country with A Big Heart”, the Ministry of Tourism announced a new campaign in June last year to attract international travellers.

On 15th November 2021, Cambodia re-opened to fully vaccinated international travellers under a Safe and Clean tourism campaign, which is a welcome step towards tourism recovery and sustainability in the ASEAN region and beyond.

According to statistics from The Ministry of Health of Cambodia, more than 90 per cent of Cambodia’s 16 million population have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of 10th January 2022.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia, it is my honour to officially announce that Cambodia is ready to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 (ATF 2022) in Sihanoukville. This coastal city has grown to become a leading international and national centre of trade, commerce, and tourism. It is also one of the most culturally varied and dynamic population centres in Cambodia.

Since the health of travellers is our utmost concern, we have put together a plan to rebuild the tourism sector safely through stringent hygiene safeguards to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and instil reassurance among our community.

We are committed to run the ATF 2022 in a safe physical format. All attendees will be reminded to wear their masks, and be observed for safe distancing. All frequent touch points at the venue will also undergo a regular sanitisation and disinfection and 3 DOs and 3 DON’Ts protocol.

I look forward to welcoming all delegates to ATF 2022 in Cambodia, Kingdom of Wonder, Feel the Warmth.” – H.E. Dr. THONG Khon, Minister of Tourism, Royal Government of Cambodia.

As the pivotal travel trade platform for the ASEAN and Southeast Asia region, the ATF 2022 will congregate 350 participants from more than 27 countries and regions. These include tourism leaders and officials, international buyers, exhibitors, media as well as trade visitors and passionate travellers from the tourism industry.

The official ASEAN NTO Meetings for the development of work programmes that aim to foster ASEAN Tourism Recovery and a more resilient future, Tourism Ministerial Meetings and Associations Meetings will take place from 16th – 20th January 2022 while TRAVEX will be held from 19th – 20th January 2022, followed by Post-ATF tours on 21st and 22nd January 2022.
