Advanced Breast Cancer Care Treatments with Malaysia Healthcare

Since opening its first cancer treatment centre in 1981, Malaysia has gained international recognition for its high-quality care. Recently, the country was ranked second in cancer treatment in the Asia Pacific and third globally by the Economist Intelligence Unit.

At Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur’s Breast Care Center, patients can receive a full screening and diagnosis within 48 hours, with a multidisciplinary team of specialists including breast surgeons, oncologists, and palliative care physicians. Dr Patricia Alison Gomez, a consultant breast surgeon at the hospital, emphasizes the centre’s comprehensive approach to care.

Dr Chong Kwang Jeat, a clinical oncologist at Mahkota Medical Center, advises women over 40 to undergo regular cancer screening, especially if they have a family history of cancer or unhealthy lifestyle habits. Dr Malwinder Singh Sandhu, a clinical oncologist at PHKL, notes that advancements in personalized breast cancer treatment have led to higher success and survival rates with fewer side effects.

At Subang Jaya Medical Center, patients with Stage 1 cancer had a relative survival rate of 101% at five years, while even Stage IV cancer saw a survival rate of 36% at five years, according to Dr Matin Mellor Abdullah, a clinical oncologist.
