Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort Opens Crab Shack — a Seafood Lover’s Mecca on Chaweng Beach

Making the most of its prime location in a seafood-rich bay, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort has opened Crab Shack, a new oceanfront restaurant serving up net-fresh crustaceans plucked from local waters, as well as imported premium shellfish.

A bright and breezy eatery right on the famous Chaweng Beach, Crab Shack celebrates the sweet, briny taste of local seafood amid dazzling ocean views. Offering a saucy twist to Asian seafood dishes, the chic yet casual restaurant offers everything from shucked-to-order bivalves coated in spicy Thai-style sauce and market selection of crustaceans to raw seafood towers and sashimi platters.

Crabs, cooked every way imaginable, rule the menu: guests can order them by the dozen with truffle fries, corn on the cob, garlic bread or other popular sides. In season, a chalkboard with the day’s menu features plump local crabs pulled from the waters that morning, capitalising on the bounty of the waters around Koh Samui, while imported seafood selection ranges from lobster to oysters.

Seafood lovers will be delighted to find such classics as lobster roll with chunks of steamed lobster meat drenched in butter and served in a hot toasted bun, and a surf and turf burger bursting with lobster meat on beef patty. Not to be missed either at this temple to all things ocean is the signature deluxe seafood tower glistening with golden king crabs, Phuket lobsters, blue swimmer crabs, tiger prawns, mussels, clams, squid, scallops and oysters, including a local Surat Thani variety.

With refreshing craft beers and frozen summertime cocktails flowing to live music, the weekly Seafood Buffet and Boil-Up extravaganza serving up seafood towers and seafood buckets promises to become Samui’s quintessential oceanside dining experience. Inspired by the Louisiana seafood boil, the seafood bucket experience is a flavour-packed combination of crustaceans tossed with spicy sauce and dramatically emptied onto a table from a bucket. Armed with various tools to crack shells and extract meat, diners then don bibs and plastic gloves to tuck into fragrant, fiery shellfish.

Crab Shack restaurant at Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort is open daily from 11.00 am to 10.00 pm. For reservations or more information, please call +66 77 960 333 or email: fbs.als@anantara.com
