Asia has taken out the top ten most popular destinations for Aussie families looking to enjoy an overseas vacation together this year. Based on search data from digital travel platform Agoda, Australia’s love of Asia has deepened.
Where once Bali beaches and Bintangs were the big attraction for Australians, our love of Asia has extended far beyond the ‘island of gods’. The cosmopolitan cities of Singapore and Tokyo are luring Aussie families with their dazzling attractions, along with the idyllic Thai destinations of Phuket and bustling metropolis Bangkok rounding out the top five.
With Australians experiencing recent consecutive interest rate rises and cost of living hikes, Asia’s proximity and renowned value is proving irresistible for families eager to reconnect on holiday.
“Australians’ curiosity for all things Asia has reached new heights as we increasingly recognise the region’s diversity and value.” said Zsuzsanna Janos, Country Director Agoda Oceania. “After stepping off a short flight from Australia to anywhere in Asia, families feel immediately immersed in a rich sensory experience that they simply don’t have at home. That’s the powerful drawcard Asia has – it’s close but feels a world away.”
Agoda’s Family Travel Trend Survey, which polled over 14,000 family travellers from 12 markets globally, found the top three family attractions for Australians were visiting landmarks, spending time outdoors and basking on picturesque beaches, no wonder Asia is so appealing to family travellers.
When families travel together, there’s no one-size-fits-all for the type of place to stay. Some families are looking for Agoda Homes which offer kitchens or extra living space to cater for family groups, while others prefer a hotel with kids’ clubs, babysitting or family friendly adjoining rooms. Agoda’s hassle-free booking experience caters to all – helping all family travellers find the ideal hotel or homestay for their trip wherever they like to travel in the world.
