Atome Thailand celebrates 1 year anniversary; achieves 1B THB GMV sales

Atome, Asia’s leading buy now pay later (BNPL) brand, today announced that it has achieved 1 billion THB in total gross merchandise value (GMV), since its launch in Thailand last September. The 1 billion THB milestone represents 100x GMV growth and demonstrates the growing popularity and value of BNPL to retail merchants post Covid19.

Since launch, Atome Thailand has grown to partner 1,000 merchant brands across a wide spectrum of categories, including food and beverage, fashion, beauty and sports. Key merchants include adidas, Agoda, Charles & Keith, Central Marketing Group (which includes brands such as MLB, The Body Shop), Converse, EVEANDBOY, H&M, KONVY, Pandora, SHEIN, Sephora, and Watsons. The Atome app also enjoys a high 4.8 star rating in user reviews on both IOS and Google Play.

Poompong Tancharoenphol, General Manager, Atome Thailand said, “Surpassing 1 billion THB in GMV sales within a year is proof that Thai consumers, especially younger, tech-savvy Gen Zs and millennials, are very receptive to buy now pay later. The pandemic has dramatically changed consumer shopping behaviour and Thai consumers increasingly demand payment flexibility and convenience wherever they choose to shop and pay. This incredible milestone would not have been possible without the support of our merchant partners, many of whom we partnered through the course of the pandemic.”

With the growing popularity of BNPL in Thailand – expected to grow by 92.1% on an annual basis to reach US$ 1715.2 million in 2022, Atome plans to continue expanding to newer categories such as hospitality, travel and lifestyle, to meet the diverse needs of consumers.

As Atome marks its second year of operations in Thailand, it is launching Atome+, its in-app loyalty rewards programme, allowing consumers to earn points for purchases made using Atome across online and offline retailers. Atome users stand to earn 1 Atome+ point for every 10 Thai baht spent using the Atome app. These points can be used to redeem reward vouchers from merchants, and to offset future transactions (30 Atome+ point = 1 THB).
