Four of Thailand’s best-known and most-loved professional golfers added star power to the third edition of the Amazing Thailand Super 3 Challenge.
Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the 54-hole event included rounds at three of the country’s finest golfing establishments – Alpine Golf Club, Amata Spring Country Club and Thai Country Club.
Impeccably presented to competitors and TAT guests from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, all three venues have gained extensive international exposure by staging major golf championships.
“These three clubs have helped to put Thailand on the international map as a wonderful golfing destination,” said a spokesperson for TAT.
After the opening round at Thai Country Club, participants crossed town for round two at fellow Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Course Facility Member Amata Spring.
The concluding round at twice former Johnnie Walker Classic venue Alpine was embellished by the appearance of Thai male heavyweights Thongchai Jaidee, a multi-time European Tour winner, and Kiradech Aphibarnrat, fresh from retaining his PGA Tour card for the 2020 campaign.
During the day, the duo toured the course, handing out fruits, signing autographs and posing for pictures with individuals and groups.
Kiradech, taking a well-earned break from tournament play to recharge his batteries, was joined at the gala dinner by the Jutanugarn sisters, Ariya and Moriya, the LPGA Tour stars who were appointed as Thailand Golf Ambassadors by the TAT in 2016.
As well as being photographed with the tournament winners, the trio oversaw an on-stage putting contest featuring amateurs from competing nations.
Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT, said: “As Thailand Golf Ambassadors, the talented Jutanugarn sisters represent Thailand at major golfing events and tournaments around the world and help promote the Kingdom’s outstanding golf opportunities.
“We’d like to reach out to golf and sports lovers and tour operators, especially in Asian nations, where golf is highly popular; such as, South Korea and Singapore.
“Golf tourists are nearly always high-quality, high-spending tourists and they’ll be attracted to Thailand, which has many world-class golf courses nationwide, with state-of-the-art facilities and services, including experienced caddies, wonderful accommodation, and excellent activities such as shopping and spa treatments to enjoy after playing.”
Thailand currently boasts more than 240 golf courses nationwide and hosts many international tournaments every year. Two new high-profile courses are expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
Throughout the past 20 years, the Thai golf destinations of Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Pattaya and Phuket have all received international acclaim and awards.
