Hua Hin certainly saw one of the most romantic Valentine’s Days as Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin recently welcomed the Amsterdam-based orchestra, Biggles Big Band, as part of the iconic hotel’s special Valentine’s celebration to enchant guests with sounds of romance from the golden era of jazz.
Valentine’s Day in Hua Hin was at its romantic peak as the Amsterdam’s best 23-piece orchestra, Biggles Big Band, revisited the city for the finalé concert, The Grand Valentine’s Day with Biggles Big Band, held as part of the band’s Thailand Tour 2020. Led by the hotel’s Resident Manager, Jan Weisheit (second from right), the memorable evening of was great success, with hundreds of guests and all jazz lovers from across the globe in attendance for the recreation of the magical sounds on the special day. Highlights of the glittering evening included some romantic classics of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and jazz singers like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin – all recreated with the orchestra’s well-known contemporary styles, suitable for listening as well as dancing.
Narrated and conducted by the talented conductor Adrie Braat (pictured, centre), the ensemble consisted of five trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, guitar, piano, acoustic bass, drums and a female vocalist, Clara Baker, all guaranteeing a sensational musical experience.
