Celebrate the Magical Loy Krathong Festival of Lights at 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai on 11 November 2019

One of Thailand’s most beautiful festivals, Loy Krathong, or Yee Peng in the northern dialect, falls on the night of the 12th lunar month (usually in November) when the full moon lights up the skies. This year’s magical event falls on Monday 11 November.  To celebrate this festival, the Thais set afloat krathongs (lotus-shaped rafts) with flowers, candles and joss sticks on the rivers and canals to show gratitude to the water gods, honour the Buddha, and to release any misfortunes of the previous year.  In some parts of Chiang Mai, away from the flight paths, kongmings or sky lanterns are released that drift high up into the night sky.

Experience this magical festival of lights at 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai, the award-winning boutique hotel with a stunning 30-suite and a rich colonial past; built around the original colonial teak homestead which dates back to the late 1800’s. It is located in a leafy residential enclave a few minutes’ walk from the historical Wat Gate Temple, Ping River and boutique shopping area.

Indulge in the festivities which include a Lanna-style market and our special gala evening with pre-dinner cocktails, an elegant 3-course dinner created by our culinary team and traditional entertainment. Guests can also join in a range of fun-filled activities that include creating the festive Krathongs, traditional umbrella painting and making Lanna flags at the deck. After dinner the Krathongs will be floated in the nearby Ping River.

Rates for the Loy Kratong Festival on 11 November start from Baht 32,800 (USD1,080) for two persons and include one night’s accommodation, pre-dinner cocktails, a 3-course gala dinner and festivities and breakfast the following day.  Additional nights (room and breakfast), for pre and/or post stays start from Baht 25,000 (USD 820).  All rates are subject to applicable service charge and government taxes.

Outside guests are most welcome to join this special Thai evening, which includes an elegant set dinner, pre-dinner cocktails, a fantastic Lanna performance and is priced at THB 3,900 (USD120) per person, plus applicable service charge and government taxes.
